Real Talk: Let’s Talk Tipping

This might be a little unconventional to say out loud, but here goes:

𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝—𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝—𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬.

I know tipping culture has gotten… intense. Suddenly we’re being prompted to tip for everything from a latte to a self-checkout screen. And while I 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺 support folks getting paid fairly for their work, I also know how mentally and financially exhausting it can feel to constantly calculate percentages—especially when everything already costs more lately (thanks, economy/tariffs).

So here’s how I run things:
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐚𝐲 (𝐩𝐥𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐚𝐱). 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐢𝐭. No awkward pause at the payment screen. No subtle guilt. No “am I a bad person if I don’t add 20%?” moment. I’ve set my rates intentionally so that I can take care of myself 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 relying on tips to make ends meet.

If you ever feel moved to tip because something felt extra amazing, that’s kind and beautiful and appreciated. But it’s never expected. Never required. Never hinted at. Just not part of the equation.

I want you to come in, relax, enjoy the experience, and leave feeling good—not stressed about the extra dollars you 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 feel obligated to tack on at the end.
