As someone who has survived su***de attempts (when I was a teenager) and still has to battle with depression, I need people to understand. Depression is not easy, it is very difficult to deal with. So with that said, if someone tells you that they suffer from it, please understand. Not all depression needs medication, sometimes the person needs kind, understanding people around them. Some of the things you should not do is
a.) tell them it is only in their mind,
b.) tell them to pray it away. (prayer helps but work has to be done)
c.) don't put them down because they are not like you
d.) don't placate them because you feel sorry for them (be understanding and kind, not sorry and enabling)
e.) bring negativity into their lives. They need all the positivity you can muster for them to get over the depression.
f.) self medicate- Do not give food, alcohol or illegal drugs... they will get addicted not better.
Please, understand if you don't know how to help a person suffering from this find them someone that does.

Tired of being scared to live, because you are always trying to take care of others and fear being rejected
Tired of being scared of not being enough because you have given your all to people who didn't value you.
Tired of giving all yourself to people who won't even give you a look.
Tired of missing out on love because you can't see beyond your fears. Your past, your pain.

The fear of rejection is a stronghold that can almost cripple your life.
The fear of letting everyone else down can have you missing out on your own blessings.
The fear of opening yourself up and letting the walls around your heart down can have you missing out the greatest love.

2026 is the year of self care. We not doing the new year new me thing. Lets concentrate on making each day, a day of healing and of taking care of ourselves.
Your never know, you may be at your breakthrough moment. You just have to open your arms and heart and embrace it.

Once you believe in you, your life will soar.

You would never allow anyone to talk down to you, or disrespect you so why is it okay for you to do it to yourself.

Please pray for our babies. Three teens lost their lives and one is in critical condition after a car accident yesterday. Then today their high school and others had to go into Code yellow and code red lock downs all while the teachers, staff and students were processing their grief. The pain and anxiety that our kids experienced would bring an adult down so it is only God keeping them together now.

So please put E.E. Smith High School and Cumberland County Schools and the lives within in your prayers. Remember to tell your kids you love them and make sure they are covered.

Sometimes we call people strong because of what we see. What we don't realize is that what looks strong many times is just a mask. We don't see the tears or hear the pain. We don't understand that some of the most hurt and broken people smile every day and help everyone else. We don't see the cracks in their hearts, souls and spirits.

Sometimes the broken and hurt do what they can to make sure others are good because they don't want anyone to feel what they feel.

Check on your strong family and friends. They may not be as strong as you think.
