Henna crowns by Alchemy Henna done in our private studio in Ferndale. Some ladies lately have also asked for jagua crowns, that's totally doable (henna is $80, jagua is $100) each appointment is an hour.

Thinking of doing a crown? Best way to set yourself up for a successful stain... shave 2 days before, and don't moisturize or apply oil the day of your appointment.

Yes! Kids can get henna too. I've had calls and questions lately about how old children have to be to come get henna. Here are some things to consider if you're thinking of henna for people under 12:

Some things to think about are the same for adults and small children; potential sensitivity, are you going swimming, working out or bathing before the 8 hour recommended after-care time?

You know your child best.
Children under 4 will almost always put their fingers in the paste, preschoolers and elementary-aged kids often want to remove the paste almost as soon as it dries. Some young people don't like the idea of the stain lasting more than a day, like face painting.

Mom and me time is fun and if you're getting henna anyway, it's a treat for them to get a small design.

A note about my studio: it is not toddler friendly.

Saw some of my henna 'in the wild' today at Eastern Market...we can do a similar hand and leg design at a 45 minute appointment, JIC you want to get yourself some pretty henna.

The cozy corner where you sit for henna - if we're doing hands and arms... I have cozy spots for all the henna: feet, back, crown and belly. Wherever you want to wear your henna, I have a sweet spot for you in our charming studio.

Henna as energy work. Henna as self care. Henna as adornment.

The best time to come is in the last month or so, when the belly is full. But you still have time for the design to fade before delivery.

Because pregnant people can be sensitive to things they're not usually irritated by, I can mix my paste specifically for you. Can't tolerate eucalyptus? fine! Because I mix fresh henna for your appointment, I can customize the recipe.

Moroccan-ish. This design is inspired by motifs found in the henna from the region around Fès, Morocco. This style is perfect for folks who don't want to wear flowers or flowy henna.
