This is fan art from an anime adventure and much less painful (and less permanent) than a tattoo.

This is jagua. If you haven't met jagua before, I'll just share that it's a form of body art that uses a fermented fruit to stain skin.

When's the best time to come for maternity henna? It rather depends on if you are having photos or if the henna is really for you (and baby).

If you're having photos, it's best to get your henna 2 -3 days before the snaps.

If the henna is for you - - come anytime. A fairly full bump is very satisfying to adorn. Keep in mind that if you deliver baby before the henna completely fades, and the belly less full, the henna will be droopy.

Worried about whether it's safe? Here is the ingredients list: henna powder (the plant is Lawsonia intermis), water, sugar and essential oil (I use lavender* for pregnant people). Clear it with your physician, mid-wife, or doula.

*Certain essential oils like lavender improve the staining power of the henna paste. If you prefer an e.o. free blend, JLMK when you book.

This design is what I'd call 'stacked' or 'jewelry' (because it's not floral, flowy, or mandala focused). I takes me about 20 minutes to do this design... so if you want 2 tops we need a 45 minute appointment.

Keep in mind that henna isn't instant and you won't be hanging out in the studio until the design is completely dry. I do speed things up with a blowdryer so you're 'functionally dry' (like having your nails done.
