A very happy Mother’s Day to my beautiful mother. 🫶
Celebrating love and feeling so much joy alongside her was such a great experience to reflect on. She has been right about so many things and has modeled resilience, care and forgiveness throughout my lifetime with her. I understand her so much more deeply after I’ve turned 40 —- immense respect and appreciation for all that she sacrificed to prioritize her family while balancing her career.
May she always know how loved she is and feel celebrated and cared for. ❤️❤️
And a special Mother’s Day to my sweet Mother in Love who raised the most gentle and caring soul. ❤️❤️❤️
Today we did a creative role play as a team. ☺️
brought in accessories from her closet and we dressed up to become salons guests like Ross, Rachel, Phoebe and Monica.
Each “guest” had specific ideas and goals for their experience of what they really wanted from their new stylist and salon.
Our team played into their roles to go deeper in consultation and the “finishing touch” at the end of their service to invite the guest back.
My goal was to explore the emotional intelligence behind great guest experiences through listening and guiding guests through caring for their hair at home with the best products and suggestions for ongoing maintenance.
It was fun and we laughed a lot and I’m excited to see how our team will take these concepts forward for our guests. 🤓🤓

The duality of love, joy and excitement with sadness and loss. The greif of missing my dad.
15 years without him is challenging for me to understand - it’s the same length of time that summarize my core memories with him that I’ve lived life without him.
This past year was especially reflective.
Planning my wedding brought my dad and my grief into the forefront of my heart, wishing to have him here.
Grief and love coexisting; it was ever present for me that Ryan will never know his voice, his creative hands or laugh at his jokes. All Ryan knows of my father are stories and memories and there is a really deep longing within that reality for me.
Our wedding reception was the first time I’ve shared space with so many people who knew and loved my father since his death. Duality present - the tenderness and joy between hugs and celebrations and the tears that filled my eyes and a physical ache inside my chest.
Grief has also brought me closer to so many beautiful people, forgiveness, patience, compassion, understanding and empathy and I’m grateful for that.
That is the gift my father left me with. ❤️

Happy birthday to my sweet, genuine husband!
Ryan is brilliant, kind and humble. His love and care for our living beings and especially our dogs is infectious and his passion for balance, respect and equality in the world inspire me every moment of my days.
His calm, steady nature is such a privilege to experience and I am grateful for time away to celebrate him this weekend!

Happy Mother’s Day to my patient and generous Mother.
Early in my career she held faith in my to do her color when I knew little about formulation and turned her hair blonde and orange. She was tolerant as I set up a salon in her kitchen a year later and hustled to pay my student loans.
She didn’t immediately shut down my side project of home haircare and looking back, I don’t know where she found the patience for my passion to cut hair at all hours of the night as I promised her that I was building my clientele. 😆
When I was working two jobs to support myself as a young stylist, she would dog sit for me when I worked doubles on the weekends in exchange for a blowout and style. I built my pace, speed and technique on those Sunday mornings we spent together in her living room using a computer chair.
When I told my mom I was going to become a salon owner in late 2015 and shared all of my thoughts and confidence she listened but was reserved, direct and honest. She said, “Stacey, it’s going to be a lot harder than you know. I don’t know if this is going to be what you want it to be and I don’t want to see you struggle.”
And of course I didn’t listen because who listens to their mother’s wisdom? 😏
But she was there on the first day (the first photo) and helped me clean and organize and manage towels throughout the last 9 years (every single time the washer broke). She has cleaned chair bases of smudges, swept up after dozens of haircuts, set up for events and has scrubbed countless color bowls to support my team and my dream. ❤️
My mom was right. It has been hard, more challenging than I ever expected. However, she has continued to encourage me to listen to my heart, stay kind and do my best.
Her work ethic runs deep in my DNA and I’m grateful for the values she has instilled into me. I’m thankful for the hours of time she has spent helping me fulfill my goals and the generosity and nature of care that she brings to this world.
Witnessing her becoming a Grandma this year has been so special and I love seeing her nurture my sweet niece.
Happy Mother’s Day, Mama Cindy. You’re lovely and I’m so grateful to have you.

Thank you Davines, ManocoBlue, Loretta and my team for their support in attending this incredible week in Brooklyn. ❤️❤️❤️
