I keep trying to find the words to share how proud and excited I am for this next step in my journey. The other day Cole and I took my grandmother and mother in law on a shopping excursion. We laughed- HARD, we talked about life, each other, shared stories over a meal and rattled off a list of our favorite songs. Somewhere in the middle of making memories I became the topic. The three of them took turns saying how proud they were of me and how I’ve had every reason to give up. Although I heard every word they said, only one word really stuck with me. “Resilience”. It was Cole, who said it. Matter of fact, he turned to me and said “my favorite thing about you has been and always will be your resilience. I’ve never seen anything keep you down” and while they continued talking I stayed focused on not ruining my makeup.

I’ve shared my story a lot over the years so I’ll spare you but not doing it now. The moral of it is that people can change. They can defy every odd set before them. It doesn’t matter who your parents are or the amount of money in your pocket. Believe me, I know. The key is to NEVER give up. Rome wasn’t built over night.

Sometimes I don’t think I deserve any of this. Sometimes I forget to celebrate the wins. Sometimes I think I’m never going to obtain the goals I’ve set for myself. BUT sometimes… I make them happen.
