As I get ready for this next chapter of life, I’ve been reflecting on just how grateful I am for every single person who has walked through my studio doors this past year.

To my clients—thank you. Thank you for trusting me, supporting my small business, and allowing me to be a small part of your lives. What started as appointments quickly became conversations I looked forward to every day. I’ve loved hearing about your families, your careers, your celebrations, your struggles, and everything in between. It’s been such a privilege getting to know each of you beyond the nails.

Your kindness has meant more than you know. From the thoughtful gifts, flowers, baby blankets, baskets, coffees, cinnamon rolls, and countless words of encouragement—you’ve made me feel so loved and supported during this exciting season of life.

It seems there is a lot of misinformation out there about acrylic, dip powder, and gel “ruining” your natural nails. So, let’s talk about it.

Acrylic, dip, poly gel and structured gel are all perfectly safe nail enhancements when applied and removed properly. They do not inherently damage your natural nails.

What does cause damage most often?

❗️Over-filing the natural nail
❗️Improper e-file technique
❗️Improper or forced removal (picking, peeling, ripping enhancements off)

Your natural nail has layers, and when those layers are filed too thin or peeled apart, that’s when you see weakness, splitting, and discomfort. The product itself isn’t usually the problem — technique is.

Healthy nails start with:
✔️ Proper prep (not over-prep)
✔️ Controlled filing
✔️ Safe soak-off or professional removal
✔️ Educated clients who resist the urge to pick
✔️ Regularly scheduled maintenance

Enhancements should protect and support your natural nail — not compromise it. When done correctly, your nails can stay strong, healthy, and beautiful long-term.

Side note- each of these enhancement types exist for a reason and are best for different nail types and lifestyles.

I work exclusively with different gel enhancements, but there are tons of talented acrylic nail techs out there that also prioritize nail health.
