Today is National Previvor Day and if you don’t know what a previvor is, let me explain. 💗

A previvor is someone who has not been diagnosed with cancer, but knows they have an increased risk of developing it because of an inherited genetic mutation or a strong family history.

This is Maggy, and she is one of those women. 💗

She made incredibly difficult decisions about her body and her future before cancer ever had the chance to make those decisions for her.

And that is something I wish more people understood.

Not every woman who has a mastectomy has had breast cancer.

Some women make the decision because they are doing everything they can to prevent themselves from ever hearing the words, “You have cancer.”

I have had the privilege of working with previvors like Maggy after reconstruction and being a small part of helping them feel whole again through 3D ar**la tattooing.

Their stories may look different from the stories of breast cancer survivors, but their strength, fear, grief, relief, and healing are just as real.

Today is for them.

For the women who learned their genetic risk and were suddenly faced with decisions they never imagined having to make.

For the women who chose prevention.

For the women protecting their futures and their families.

And for every previvor who deserves to know that you are part of this community too. 💗

Soft heart. Pretty things. Big dreams.

I’ve always loved the pretty things, but the older I get, the more I realize the prettiest life isn’t about what you have.

It’s loving what you do. Being surrounded by people who feel like home. Protecting your peace. Creating something you’re proud of. And still letting yourself dream bigger, even when you’re already grateful for where you are.

One thing I’ve learned in my health journey is that some days can feel so heavy, to the point where giving up sounds a hell of a lot easier than continuing to push forward.

But then the next day comes.

And sometimes it’s a good day. A day where I laugh, I feel a little more like myself, and life doesn’t feel quite so heavy.

I’m so thankful that somewhere in between all of the hard days, there are still good ones. The kind that remind me why I’m here, why I keep fighting, and how much beauty can still exist even in the middle of something really hard.

I know so many of the women who find this page are walking through their own version of hard, and I just hope you remember this too: a bad day doesn’t mean a bad life. There are still good days ahead, still moments worth holding onto, and still so much of your story left to live. 🤍
