Well, with Canadian Nate Riech’s gold medal run in the T38 1500m final yesterday, our final medal count for the 2020 Olympics/Paralympics is in - and the results are stunning! In addition to the 34 medals (not 33, as previously reported) won in the Olympics, Paralympic athletes that we brought to Flagstaff for altitude training camps accounted for another unbelievable 46 medals in Tokyo! The combined total medal count of 80 absolutely crushes our 2016 Rio Olympics/Paralympics total of 39 medals (as well as the totals from both the 2012 London and 2008 Beijing Games). We could not be prouder of all the amazing athlete performances, all the incredible people who helped make those performances a reality, and the fact that we get to call Flagstaff - the greatest place on earth for altitude training - home.

So how did athletes who trained in Flagstaff do in the Tokyo Games? Here's the scoop: of the 242 athletes from 29 countries who have competed so far, 103 individual athletes ended up in 139 medal events and won 33 Olympic medals! If Flagstaff were a country (and these athletes competed as "Flagstaffians"), we'd be tied with France in 8th place in the overall medal count. We're really hoping to beat our 2016 combined Olympic/Paralympic medal count of 39 once the Paralympics end on September 4th - looking good so far and more on that soon! Congrats to all the amazing athletes, and congrats to all the folks in our amazing mountain town who helped to make their Olympic dreams come true!

Before everyone fully settles into the excitement of the 2021 Tokyo Games, we are very happy to share with you Flagstaff's Olympic/Paralympic roster (i.e., a list of athletes who did their altitude training here on the Road to Tokyo)! Huge thanks goes out to the City of Flagstaff's Discover Flagstaff team for partnering with us on the production and distribution of this roster, and for believing along with us that it should serve as a source of great pride to everyone here in Flag. And an even bigger thanks goes out to all the elite athletes who trust us to bring our "A" game in helping them meet their aspirations. Enjoy the Games!
