HURLEY MEDICAL CENTER is one of the hospitals on the Endangered list for possible future closure due to the 1 Trillion in cuts to Medicare and Medicaid by DJT's and Republicans' One Big Beautiful Bill.

If we lose Hurley, we would lose access to a Level 1 Trauma Center. I believe the next closest would be Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak or University of Michigan Ann Arbor!

Hurley has the only specialized Children's Emergency in Michigan. The next closest hospital for children's specialty is CS Mott with U of M Ann Arbor or Henry Ford St. John's Detroit. McLaren Flint does not have a children's unit or birthing center, and Genesys can only stabilize neonates and must send them out if needing further NICU care.

Hurley is our leading hospital in Genesee County for healthcare right now. Care at McLaren and Genesys are not keeping up per some physicians.

We need to find a way to preserve this hospital!

I am not sharing because of loyalty to the hospital I worked at for over 30 years. I am am sharing because I am greatly concerned for our community. If we lose this hospital, there is no coming back. Genesee County and surrounding Counties will be hurting. Hurley receives patients and children via helicopter for trauma and burn treatment. We cannot let this hospital close.
