I never thought I would form an emotional attachment to a room where I go to complete a task for money. This room became more than that for me. Born from a logistical necessity to have a place to earn a living, my goal became to create a space that would in some way be an expression of art that inspires me, family whom I love, music that brings me purpose, and community that makes it all worth it.

I can never do anything the traditional, easy, or obvious way. “Effortlessly cool” is a lie. I always obsess over every detail to a fault. Above all, I simply wanted to make a space where we would all want to spend our time. With the designer’s eye of my wife, Maggie, I know we accomplished that here. Seven Points will always hold my heart and this room will forever be my safe space.

I could go on and on, but this is not the platform for that. I will just say this: THANK YOU ALL. To my barber team - I could not have done this without you and together we made something truly wonderful and formed a bond not easily broken. And to our clients - you are the reason we built this place and we will continue this legacy, just a mile down the road. The last five years were incredible, but an even better future is dawning for us on Tuscaloosa Street. It starts August 4th. Come with us! -Daniel

LOCATION
110 E Tuscaloosa St, Florence, AL 35630
Between the intersection of Court - Tuscaloosa (Mugshots/Rancho) and Seminary - Tuscaloosa (Regions Bank/Wilson Park). Look for the big ERNEST on the window and the possum xray sign above the door.

PARKING
There is plenty of street parking around the shop. If there isn’t a spot right in front of our building, there are always parking spots at the end of the block on Seminary St by the church and medical building or the park and bank.

THE SPACE
Our new location is smaller and cozier than our previous shop. WAITING SEATING IS LIMITED, so we advise you to please only bring those folks with you who are getting a haircut. We will be in the heart of downtown with many great places to kill time while you wait if you have a group.

NEIGHBORS
Our next door neighbors are Dandelion & Co. coffee and tea shop and CULT HAIR salon. True pillars of the downtown community. If you desire a longer hair style which needs more expertise than our traditional barber skills can offer, go see our dear friends at Cult. If you need a new coffee or tea shop which focuses on originality and quality, check out Dandelion & Co.

SHAVE SERVICE CHANGE
We are no longer offering our straight razor face shaving services (but will continue the hot towel neck shave to finish every haircut, of course). While we have been offering razor services for years, it only makes up 3% of our total bookings. The more infrequently you do a task, the harder it is to become the best, which is what we strive for in all our work. Therefore, we are going to focus on what we built our reputation on exclusively: classic barber haircuts. For face shaves, we will refer you to our friend Seth Crocker at Crocker Barber Co. here in Florence. He’ll treat you right.

MARCO NEWS. With us making our upcoming move to 110 E Tuscaloosa St and starting a new chapter at Ernest, Marco has decided to start a new chapter of his own. Marco is taking over the barber position at , located at 218B N Court St in Florence. His last day at Ernest will be our last day at the Wood Ave shop: Friday, July 31st. Marco will reach out to those clients he has contacts for concerning future bookings, but otherwise, feel free to chat with him at your next appointment and visit his new booking link in his bio .

Marco has been a cornerstone of our success at Ernest for nearly five years. While I am sad to see him leave our crew, I am in full support of his new endeavor and wish him all the success in the world. I personally have worked with Marco by my side in different shops for almost decade. It’s been an honor to see him grow his career and expand the impact of classic barbering within our community. WE ARE MOVING

After having some staff changes over the past few months, our current lease coming to an end, and looking forward to what is most beneficial for our future, we have decided it is in our best interest to occupy a smaller footprint and move into a space that will work better for our current team, securing a stronger future for us in our community for years to come.

BEGINNING MONDAY, AUGUST 3RD - WE WILL BE LOCATED AT 110 E TUSCALOOSA ST, FLORENCE, AL 35630. The small strip of shops at the corner of Court St and Tuscaloosa St, across from FUMC. It will be business as usual on Wood Ave until then.

My other shop, PREY, is currently at that location. Unfortunately, it will be closing in a couple of weeks. This is the heartbreaking reality for countless independent businesses across the country in our current economic climate. A deep loss for PREY, but a wonderful gain for Ernest Barber. If you believe things happen for a reason and with divine timing, this is one of those instances.

Seven Points has been our beloved home for nearly five years and it will always be home in our hearts. I love this neighborhood so dearly and have done my very best to help it grow towards its full potential. We have so many wonderful businesses here who will continue that charge and make 7P the go-to spot in the Shoals both for now and for the future.

I will miss having our music space to host incredible artists, taking part in the Art Crawl, our family of neighboring businesses, and all of the many benefits of North Wood Avenue. But, I cannot wait to see what downtown has in store for us and I am so excited to start a new chapter in this city I have lived in and loved for my entire life. Come along with us!
