Remembering Phillip's king Cotton Barber Shop - Closed
Traditional "old school" barbershop with "new school style". Established by Johnny Hood in the early 1960's and sold to Phillip Rich in 1970.
Come by and see Pam Davidson or Phillip for all your hair care needs. "If you don't need a hair cut, just stop in to say hello." We LOVE our customers!!
This page will soon be deleted because some idiot with nothing better to do cloned the page and added his crude halfnaked friend. Also probably stolen. Facebook wouldn’t delete him so I deleted our pix and the page. If you aren’t my friend, please feel free to send me a friend request.
Phillip is doing great. He adjusted to retirement better than I ever expected. We both miss everyone!
I am deleting this page because it was cloned and Facebook wouldn’t. Anything you see will be the copycat! So sorry!
Someone has copied this page and posted a photo that obviously is not ours! I have closed to our title and reported to facebook.

Merry Christmas! Wishing everyone a happy, healthy new year.
Itwas 5 years yesterday since Phillip retired. Half the money & twice the wife. I believe we are going to make it. Yesterday was also 52 years since we met❤️
It’s been 4 years since Phillip retired due to cancer. I am so ecstatic to tell you he was tested Monday & he is negative. So happy! He is a tough man. Not gonna lie we were both stressed.
Many of you are my friends & already know Phillip had a heart attack last Tuesday (October 10). Dr ba'albaki worked his magic with 2 stents on the "widow maker" & he was home the next day. Walked a mile the day he came home. I told him he took drastic measures to not be the nurse.
A little Barbershop history. In the mid60s Johnny Hood bought the King Cotton Restaurant building (owned by Sammie Barksdale) on the corner of Wilson Dam rd & Huntsville rd & moved his business there. Hence the name King CottonBarber Shop. Phillip started working there in 1969. When Johnny decided to change professions, Phillip bought the business. In 1989 he moved the business to Florence Blvd & closed in 2014. We don't have any exterior photographs. Sammie Barksdale's granddaughter graciously shared these pix of the King Cotton Restaurant & I thought I would share.
If you have a photo of Phillip or any of the other barbers cutting your child's hair, please post on this page.
