There are different types of acne, and most people actually have a mix of inflamed + non-inflamed breakouts at the same time

PIE (post-inflammatory erythema):
aka those lingering red acne marks left behind after a breakout. these usually fade with time, but sunscreen is KEY. exfoliation + calming ingredients like beta glucan and exosomes can also help reduce redness and support healing.

Pustules:
inflamed pimples with a visible white/yellow head (pus). please don’t pick or extract these. they can easily lead to scarring and infection. instead, use benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, ice them regularly, and add LED therapy if you can. zinc supplements can also help calm inflammation from within.

Cysts:
those deep, painful underground pimples that feel hard and tender to the touch. hands OFF these ones too! focus on icing, benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, LED therapy, and zinc to help reduce inflammation and speed up healing

Whiteheads:
aka closed comedones. these are clogged pores trapped under the skin and are best extracted professionally. retinoids, salicylic acid, mandelic acid, and sulfur are great for treating and preventing them

Blackheads:
aka open comedones. these occur when oil and debris oxidize in the pore. retinoids, salicylic acid, and mandelic acid are your besties for keeping these under control and preventing congestion.
