In 2012, I was just a girl with a head full of transitioning hair and a homemade oil blend I couldn’t stop using. I shared it with friends and family, and they kept coming back for more.
By 2014, I said, “Okay God, I hear you,” and made it official—Curls Dynasty was born.
2015? I opened an Etsy shop.
2016? Started an IG page from scratch.
2017? Hired my first marketing team, built a real website, started running Facebook ads, leveled up my packaging.
But I didn’t stop there—I was at hair shows, selling on the floor, driving from store to store with samples in my trunk, telling every beauty supply owner why they needed Curls Dynasty on their shelves.
And not long after? You could find us in Target, Walmart, Kroger and stores nationwide, as well as international.
The lesson?
Start small. Start scrappy. Just don’t stop.
Even if you have to crawl, crawl forward.
