You ask for one quick video or one simple post, and suddenly they’re camera shy! Meanwhile, complete strangers are cheering you on. 😅

You would think she knows better… but just like so many people, she gets comfortable and starts slacking on her skincare routine.

As an esthetician and an instructor, here are a few things I wish every new graduate understood…

❌ Don’t rush to open a suite before you know how to build a clientele.
❌ Don’t confuse getting your license with mastering skincare.
❌ Don’t stop learning the day you graduate.
❌ Don’t chase social media trends over skin science.
❌ Don’t buy expensive equipment before you’ve mastered the basics.
❌ Don’t think every client is your client.
❌ Don’t neglect consultations—they’re just as important as the treatment.
❌ Don’t undercharge just because you’re new.
❌ Don’t ignore the business side of esthetics. Marketing, customer service, and finances matter.
❌ Don’t let your ego keep you from asking questions or seeking mentorship.
❌ Don’t expect to be fully booked overnight.
❌ Don’t focus only on making money. Focus on creating results, building trust, and building relationships.

“Why did I have to wait until I became an adult to learn how to take care of my skin?”

That question hit me.

The truth is, many of us weren’t taught that skincare is healthcare. We grew up thinking it was only about beauty, when in reality it’s about protecting the largest organ on your body.

That’s one of the reasons I’m passionate about educating teens early—because they shouldn’t have to wait until adulthood to understand their skin.

OMG! I finally heard from my daughter for the second time this week! ❤️

This time we talked for 40 minutes! The first call was only 30 minutes. 🤦🏾‍♀️

To some people that may not seem like much, but when your child is away, every minute means everything. My mama heart is full today! 🥰🇺🇸

My heart is crying, but it’s also full of joy. ❤️🇺🇸

The cat is finally out of the hat… my daughter, Destiny, is leaving for the military.

These past few weeks have been some of the most precious moments we’ve shared. We went dancing, sang karaoke, enjoyed brunch together, worked out side by side, and simply enjoyed each other’s company. Every moment became a memory that I will cherish forever.

As a mother, it’s hard to let go. But as I watch her step into this new chapter, I am filled with pride. Destiny has always been a smart, determined, and driven young woman. She scored an incredible 92 on her test and is entering the military with the rank of E-4. What an accomplishment!

God has truly kept His hands on her life. Through every season, He has protected her, guided her, and opened doors for her. I know He will continue to lead her steps as she begins this journey.

Destiny, I am going to miss you more than words can express, but I am so excited to see all that God has in store for you. Go make your mark on the world. Your future is bright, and I couldn’t be more proud to call you my daughter.

Please keep my baby girl in your prayers as she begins this new adventure. ❤️🙏🇺🇸
