Karen, Vivian and I wanted to let you know :10minutemanicure closed our final airport location on 10/31/2019. When YYZ (Toronto), chose to go into business with our competitor, after :10mm was their business partner for 15 years, we were disappointed and sad, but wished them well.

When Karen, Vivian and I dreamt up this idea in 1999, it was just an idea on paper. There was no shark tank, just "Three Women and a Kiosk." magazine chose :10mm as one of the five best start ups of Y2K (2000.) INC wondered if such a novel idea could "fly." Google it for our story.❤️

Our 1999 business plan was brilliant, real and dreamy. Our initial angel investor withdrew his promise of investment due to us being an unproven concept, created by three women who had never run a business- he was offered a faster ROI on another start up called Monster.com. (This is why he was a multi-millionaire and, it was the tech boom in Silicon valley.) This turned out to be the best thing that happened to us. We kept our day jobs.

In 1999, I personally, planned a wedding, sold our childhood home in Miami, was married, moved to Fort Lauderdale, became an instant Mom to 4 year old Hagen, got pregnant, gained 60 pounds, birthed Logan, all while being a partner at my busy defense law firm. In 2000, in an attempt to be closer to my family in Fort Lauderdale, I was hired as Of Counsel, at a downtown Miami firm, who had merged with the Kansas City firm of . (Another huge blessing.) Karen and Vivian were just as busy.

While , Hardy & Bacon I became the first member of the pharmaceutical division located outside of KC. I began developing medical experts for the Fen-Phen litigation. I was traveling over 250 days a year and earned a new "Blueberry" so we could be in touch 24/7. Logan thought I worked airport. All this travel fueled our passion to make women's lives easier. 9/11 happened 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸. We kept our day jobs.

Fast forward to 11/2004 when I received an email (on another relatively new .com Findalawyer.com) from an angel investor who had read our INC magazine article and wondered if we had ever "gotten off the ground." Hmmmm....

I was flying to NYC to prepare a witness for deposition, so I agreed to a lunch. I contacted Karen and Vivian, and told them to get out their nail files, we might be taking off this time. We had been asked to speak at an Airport Experience News conference many years prior, but a quick Ask Jeeves search revealed no one had stolen our idea. Vivian quickly pointed out our business plan and numbers were 4-5 years old. No matter to these Angels...
