It seems like we need to have a discussion about nail salons. In an effort to not be derogatory, I will differentiate by calling them "walk in" and "appointment only".
The reasons you may choose walk in salons may be cost, obviously convenience, and maybe you're just not that concerned with the overall appearance of your nails. You just want them done. There is nothing wrong with that. There is obviously a market, or they wouldn't exist. But on the off chance some of you don't know what a relationship with a committed nail tech can offer you, let me explain. Many walk in salons are not concerned if you come back. There will always be someone to take your place. Sometimes they use illegal products because it is much cheaper. They also hire uneducated/unlicensed techs because they can get away with paying them an unfair wage. What you get is what you get. See ya later.
Your experience in a boutique salon is much different. Your tech takes great pride in her work, uses only the best products and is constantly improving her skills with continuing education. She can often tell if you are ill or even pregnant before you can. If you ask for a nail style she feels is unsuitable to your lifestyle she will tell you no. She is concerned with the longevity of your set, so if you can't live your life wearing them, she's not going to give them to you. If you develop health issues or concerns with her products, she will invest her money to find ones that work for you AND train herself to use them expertly. If you have a nail emergency, she will be there to help you (did you know hospitals don't remove enhancements? They refer you to an experienced tech). And when the day comes that you have to leave your nail tech, she will help you find a new one.

Ok... maybe this isn't true for all nail techs, but I know it is for me and many others. Do you pay more for our services? Maybe.. definitely more than walk in salons. Why are you paying us more? For our products, our time, our experience and our skill. Most importantly, your paying us to take our time and give you a set of nails that you can wear proudly for however long you have them. So every time you look at your hands you feel joy. Not disappointment or sadness (I know you know what I'm talking about). You're also paying us to take care of you after the fact. So that when it's all said and done, you will still have healthy nails at the end of our relationship and not have to deal with painfully thin, splitting nails for the next 9-12 months.
Are nails for everyone? Heck no!! But for the ones that enjoy waking up with polished perfect nails, it's everything. When you find your perfect nail tech, you will know. She's your friend, your confidant, and your advisor, and she looks forward to seeing you every month!!!🥰😍😍😍
