Estradiol patches are hard to find right now — and I'm NOT letting my patients settle for synthetic oral estrogen. Here's what we're doing instead 👇
If you've been scrambling because your estradiol patch is backordered or your pharmacy can't fill it — you are not alone. This is a nationwide shortage and it's affecting a lot of women right now.
Here's what I'm actually doing in my practice:
✅ Switching patients to estradiol gel
✅ Compounding a Bi-Est cream (bioidentical estradiol + estriol)
Here's what I'm NOT doing:
❌ Recommending synthetic oral estrogen or birth control as a swap
Oral synthetic estrogen carries a very different risk profile than bioidentical options — and just because it's on the shelf doesn't mean it's the right call.
You have options. You don't have to white-knuckle it through a shortage.
