Purple shampoo does NOT “brighten” your blonde! I know I know that’s all you’ve ever been told though, right? Well, let me walk you through it…

Purple shampoo is designed to neutralize and tone out yellow (otherwise known as “brassy” tones) in the hair. However, the overuse of purple shampoo can leave you feeling ashy, dull, and dark.

With each shampoo a little bit of pigment is left behind, creating a veil over the hair. The next time you shampoo, more pigment is left behind. So on and so forth.

I always recommend cleansing with a non-pigmented shampoo first before using your purple shampoo. This is a PSA that you do NOT need to use a purple shampoo every. single. wash!
