What an amazing group of humans to work with at Fort Worth -mixer ❤️🏥👊👊

Birthdays are one of my favorite celebrations. A few weeks ago, during late evening rounds I encountered 10 people, multiple kids, balloons, and a massive birthday cake,in one of the floor rooms. A family was singing “Feliz cumpleaños”/Happy 🎉 🎂 Birthday. There was energy in the room. The patient who had been struggling in the past, had finally started to turn a corner. He looked the best I had seen so far and had an ear-to-ear smile during the physical examination. His warm demeanor felt encouraging.

His wife, who spoke Spanish, was anxious and asked many questions. She appeared pleased with his progress and closed her eyes with hands clasped praying in gratitude.

As I decided to move on to the next room, in a touching gesture, I was offered a slice of red velvet bundt cake…

It was a reminder to celebrate the little BIG things in life.

Advanced Cardiac ❤️ Recovery at Fort Worth and Tarrant County has reached a significant milestone. It has been five years since the first HeartMate 3 implant in the city and the county. Baylor All Saints performed a record number of HM3 implants last year. This month we celebrated all the lives that have been touched and changed by our program. ❤️❤️🎉🏥

Elissa will join to review heart failure charts in real time, support the inpatient heart failure population through education, review opportunities in preventing readmissions, and multiple other activities to enhance the care we deliver to the heart failure patient population. Welcome!
