15 years ago, when I was battling breast cancer while pregnant, I made a call to Dr. Cardonick, a Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist and creator of the Cancer and Pregnancy Registry. She gave me hope and I joined her registry for pregnant women with cancer.

Today, I received this news from Hope for Two...The Pregnant with Cancer Network: Data from our registry—tracking over 500 women and their children—has advanced research and improved treatment guidance. As oncologists learn from these outcomes, recommendations for pregnancy termination have dropped from 20% to 12%.

We’re proud that Dr. Cardonick contributed to newly published guidelines to help maternal-fetal medicine specialists and oncologists safely treat cancer during pregnancy. The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine has released its first evidence-based guidance on this topic, now endorsed by ACOG.

This marks important progress in improving care, standardizing treatment, and supporting patients and providers. We’re grateful to all who made this possible—this is more than a publication; it’s real progress and hope for patients facing cancer during pregnancy.
