The belief that tattoos are “not for women like us” was never a fact. It was a rule we were taught to obey.

We were expected to be polished, proper, conservative, and untouched. It was as if our bodies belonged to everyone else’s expectations before they belonged to us.

But women are reclaiming their bodies and telling their stories through tattoos.

We’re honoring our children, our loved ones, motherhood, heritage, faith, healing, independence, survival, and the women we were before everyone else needed us.

A tattoo doesn’t mean, “I don’t care what anyone thinks.”

Sometimes it means:

“I care enough about myself to let my outside reflect my inside.”

You can be 40, 50, or 60. A mother, grandmother, professional, business owner, caregiver, or the woman who has spent a lifetime putting everyone else first.

You are still allowed to choose yourself.

Your body gets to tell your story, too. And not just the parts that made other people comfortable, but the parts that made you strong, whole, and free.

Maybe tattoos were never “not for women like us.”

Maybe we were simply taught to stay hidden.

Maybe it’s time to stop asking for permission.

If I have a competitive advantage?

It’s that I am genuinely having so much fun.

Not because I’ve figured out how to perfectly balance business and life.

But because I stopped believing they had to be separate.

My kids are spontaneously hanging out of our RV in the Badlands. I’m laughing at our family scramble through a rainstorm at one of my favorite TN waterfalls. We get to go down triple slides together, have circus days, be exhilarated by a city helicopter tour out of John C. Tune, go on road trips and ridiculous adventures and experience moments that probably don’t belong in a polished business feed.

Honestly? I love it ALL.

It’s too hard and unnatural for me to be perfectly polished and compartmentalized all the time, but this is the part people don’t always see:

My life feeds my business.
My business feeds my life.
The whole machine has become this beautiful feedback loop.

I suppose that could be a reason why I love tattoos and permanent makeup so much.

They’re a way to let life both literally and metaphorically leave a mark on you.

Get your brows done so you can swim in the waterfall without being self conscious about them.

Get your lips done so you can wake up, throw on sunscreen and go straight to work or play without thinking about feeling washed out.

Get the tattoo because you experienced something, survived something, loved someone, became someone…
or simply because you thought, “That would look fu***ng cool.”

Life is going to leave a mark on you anyway, I promise.

You might as well choose a few of them. Choose the shape they take. Make it intentional.

I don’t want a business that requires me to put my life on hold.

I want a business that makes my life bigger and juicier.

And a life that makes my business braver and better.

More authenticity, please.

It’s about actually living this one precious existence with as much kindness, curiosity, and courage as I can muster. ❤️
