Life’s been doing a little ✨rearranging✨ lately.

New home. New routines. New chapter. Same me… still voluntarily hanging upside down for fun. 😂

I haven’t been able to give aerial quite as much of my time lately, but I’m learning that maintaining a skill is still progress. Sometimes growth looks like pushing harder, and sometimes it looks like simply refusing to let go.

So here I am—adjusting, adapting, and hanging on. Literally. 🤸‍♀️✨

For those following along with my macramé shower curtain saga… here’s some footage of me getting knotty. 🪢 All while questioning my life choices.

At this point I’ve spent so many hours on this thing that it would honestly be cheaper to buy a designer shower curtain.

But where’s the fun in that?

Grateful that my body lets me do weird things like hang upside down, spinning on a fabric…and somehow I get to call it a hobby (until I turn full professional 😂)

A few years ago I never would have thought aerial would be the thing that shuts my brain off for a minute. Every practice session reminds me that I’m capable of more than I think, and every tiny bit of progress feels like a win.

Now, if I can just stop freaking out my instructor with tricks I want to try 😉

On today’s episode of “Clara Wants to Become a Professional Aerialist…” 🌙
I tried recreating one of Kellie McD beautiful flows. It’s nowhere near as effortless as she makes it look, but I love seeing little bits of progress every time I climb into the hammock. Here’s to falling, laughing, trying again, and slowly becoming the aerialist I dream of being. 💙

Seven years ago, I made one decision that changed the direction of my entire life.
I didn’t get sober because life suddenly became easy. I got sober, and then I had to build a life worth staying sober for.
When I moved back to Nashville, I had almost nothing. I was going through a divorce, barely making ends meet, renting a room from a stranger I found on Craigslist, and trying to figure out who I was all over again.
Slowly, things started changing.
I went back to doing hair.
I built a business I love.
I opened Studio Aura.
Then I was able to move it into an even better space with a window!
I found hobbies that filled my soul. Aerial, crocheting, soap making, and whatever creative project caught my attention next.
I danced at concerts.
I laughed until I cried with friends.
I leaned on people when I had a seizure and couldn’t drive.
I got to travel to Paris… for work.
And now, seven years later, I’m moving into a place that’s all mine.
None of those things happened overnight. They happened one day, one choice, and one sober morning at a time.
Sobriety didn’t give me a perfect life.
It gave me the opportunity to create one.
To everyone who has supported me, believed in me, cheered me on, trusted me with your hair, danced with me, traveled with me, or simply sat beside me during the hard days, THANK YOU! You helped shape this chapter more than you know.
Seven years alcohol-free.
Here’s to continuing to build a life I don’t need to escape from. ❤️
