White Deer Apothecary
White Deer Apothecary is centered around sharing the beauty and healing energy of local Texas plants.
We create herbal tinctures, syrups, salves, balms, teas, infused oils and soy candles. All items are handmade in South Austin using natural and organic ingredients. Local and wildcrafted ingredients are used whenever possible. In an effort to reduce waste, our soy candles are poured into reusable jars and reused/reusable unique vessels- vintage teacups, sake cups, mugs and lovely glass vessels.

🌲💚 Some glamour shots of a couple local junipers here in Northern New Mexico at Ghost Ranch 💚🌲
I love meeting the juniper trees wherever I go and smelling their varied (but all delightful) scents and tasting the berries! The first pic shows the tiny male cones and the second some lovely berries (actually the fleshy female cones in botanical nerd terms).
My favorite ways to work with juniper leaves are to create smoke bundles and make a warming infused oil for sore muscles and joints. If you’d like to learn more about these prolific and beautiful trees, I hope you’ll join my next Juniper Magic class at The Charmadillo ✦ Nature Retreat, Lodging & Event Venue in Center Point, TX on Nov 8th! Details and tix in my bio and at whitedeerapothecary dot com.

🌿🥂Cheers from the road!✨
I’m here in northern New Mexico this week (one of my former homes) to teach and play at the Plant Healer Good Medicine Confluence. I’ll be teaching an Herbal Cocktail & Mocktail class at the confluence…and every time I do so I am asked when I will be teaching one closer to my home in TX…
Sooooo go ahead and mark your calendar for Friday Nov 13th! Better yet, you can get your tix via my website (in bio).
Join me in crafting delightful botanical cocktails and getting to know the plants we use to make them. These celebratory drinks can help us enliven our senses and mark special moments in our lives- even more so when we can craft them with local ingredients at home. In this class we’ll play with some infused spirits, syrups, bitters, juices, herbal salts and more. I will demo several recipes for vibrant cocktails for you to sample, provide recipe cards of what is made in class and inspiration for creating your own magical drinks at home. Our cocktails will feature spirits from a local distillery.
Your ticket includes a beautiful heirloom Tequilero Copper Shot Cup from Sertodo copper to sample from and take home. We’ll be mixing our drinks with Lauren’s longtime favorite Sertodo Copper bar tools and will have some available for purchase after class to get you set up at home as well!
This class takes place in the beautiful open-air kitchen and lounge space at Hacienda Sertodo, a boutique guesthouse minutes from downtown Austin amidst peaceful gardens, and a short 10-minute drive to Lady Bird Lake.
(Class is open to folks 21+)

💙💙💙 Testing out some Cyanotype chemistry I mixed up a while ago…and it’s still good!💙💙💙
In my previous life, I studied historic photographic processes in Santa Fe, NM 20+ years ago and got my BFA in photography. My love for Cyanotype runs deep- how could you not fall in love with these gorgeous blues and printing in the sun? It may seem distant from my love for herbalism, but I see the connections clearly- mixing potions (not to drink!), making beautiful things with my hands, playing outside with plants. They very first use of the Cyanotype process was to document botanical specimens!
Anywho, just had fun doing some quick tests and can’t wait until I have time to play more.
Would you like to attend a Cyanotype workshop sometime?
✨🌿🪄 See you at the Good Medicine Confluence next week!

I have been waiting and waiting for months for my blue butterfly pea plants to flower and they’re finally begun! This is my first time growing them and I’m just so happy to see these beautiful flowers popping up.
