After I received my cosmetology license, the first color class I ever attended was with the legendary Kim Vo 🎨✨

At the end of the class, he and his two assistants pulled me to the side and said, “You’ve got it. You should be doing what we do.”

Imagine how that felt—being affirmed by a celebrity stylist I had only ever seen on TV 📺💫 I was honored… but honestly? I had no idea where to even start, so I went right back to minding my business 😅

Shortly after, I attended my first major product-line hair show. Day one, I’m riding the elevator with this cool-as-a-fan white guy. Small talk turns into him looking at me—a Black woman—and saying, “You should go natural.”

Then he smooth-walked out the elevator. 🚪✨

That evening, opening night of the show… and who walks out on the main stage?
The same man from the elevator.

Don Bewley, owner of Eufora International. 🤯🔥 and if you knew Don you know why he didn’t want me putting toxic perms( relaxers) in my hair.

That show changed my life. Soon after, I was rocking a twa, hopping on a plane during a hurricane 🌪️✈️ to Chicago for Eufora Boot Camp, determined to see if I really had what it took to become an educator.

I DID. 🙌🏽
I became a popular educator, won Educator of the Year TWO years in a row for my distributor and doors started flying open 🚪✨

From stage work, to beauty magazine writing, to New York Fashion Week, to being paid to do what I love all over the country 💇🏽‍♀️🎤🗽
I worked with celebrities, trained under some of the most skilled people this industry has ever known, and was put on to game that was truly priceless 💎

This industry owes me nothing.
But now that I’m out of retirement… I feel like I owe it everything.

So today, I say thank you 🤍
