I understand that it may be a little confusing to know when to get a lash fill, especially for those of you who are fairly new to getting extensions or to new lash artists like myself! I put this post together in hopes of clearing of any confusion or misunderstanding of when to get a fill. Some lash techs go by the 2 week or 3 week rule, and some others, like myself, go by the 40% rule. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or if you would like more details to be provided. Hope this helps!
๐ Here are some key points to consider:
- Everyone's skin is different. Those with oily skin may not have good as a retention compared to those with dryer skin. However, if you have really dry skin, there is a risk of flakiness and irritation that may cause you to rub your eyes, thus causing lash fallout.
- Everyone's lash cycle is also different. Some of us may have a faster lash cycle and lose our natural lashes faster than others.
- Putting on makeup and not washing your lashes can DEFINITELY affect your lash retention. It is soooooo important to wash your lashes DAILY. Even if you do not wear makeup, our natural oil will be sitting on the extensions (and adhesive), causing premature fallouts.
- ONLY WASH YOUR EXTENSIONS WITH THE LASH SHAMPOO MADE FOR EXTENSIONS. These shampoo's have ingredients specifically made to not only clean our lashes of oil or debris, but it will HELP with your retention.
