This Is Bigger Than Hair

Back in May, a client sat in my chair and said,
"Man… I sure am missing my mom.”
Mother’s Day was around the corner, and grief has a way of sitting quietly on the scalp and loudly in the heart.

She originally came to me because of traction alopecia. We had been documenting her growth journey… and it was going beautifully.

Until that day.

The moment I started taking her braids down, I noticed shedding... fast.
By the end of the appointment, about 45% of her hair was gone.
We were both devastated.

I asked about new medications, stress, health changes… nothing.
I suggested bloodwork. I recommended a trichologist.
But in that moment, all I could do was hold space for her.

So I did what I know:
I took my anointing oil, gently placed it on her scalp, and I prayed.

Not a performance prayer.
A sincere, believing, faith-filled prayer.

And today — six months later —
EVERY strand has grown back.
Her bloodwork was normal.
She never made it to the trichologist.
But God… did what only God can do.

This journey reminded me that I am not in this industry for surface reasons.
Yes, I love the artistry.
Yes, I love creating beautiful wigs.
But I care about the woman wearing them.
I care about her health, her confidence, her heart… her healing.

I believe when I pray, God responds.
And this is just one of the many testimonies I get to witness from behind the chair.

This is purpose.
This is ministry.
This is why I do what I do.
