Vacation swag post! Because what’s a vacation without the swag? Rick’s Comic City is always a must go whenever we hit Nashville, and we added a couple of more to that list in Parnassus Books and Gift Horse.

Turned 50 over the weekend and spent it with the family in Nashville shopping, eating, and drinking locally. Also got a tattoo that has some full circle meaning for me with some of the events over the last couple of years. Mel at H&H Tattoo Co. Nashville did a fantastic job start to finish. Take some time for yourself and to be with loved ones. That’s what 50 rotations around the sun has taught me.

A decade of…overcoming fears, uncertainties, self doubts, and other maladies…but also learning, improving, casting off all those negatives above, and more importantly never giving up. Maybe some dominance in there somewhere. Idk.

Since I’m in my (again) boxing era, I’ll quote Rocky and leave yall to your Father’s Day weekend…

“You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.”

A few housekeeping notes real quick!

-I’ll be out of the shop next week June 25-29. I’ll be at the shop Tuesday and Wednesday as normal.

-I’ll be working my regular half day Saturday on the Fourth. So if you wanna get cleaned up before any festivities, come through.

-Off topic, but I finally found the switch to get my post and stories synched back up from IG to FB. This was mostly just an annoyance to me, but in case anyone one of the 5 viewers my FB stories get were wondering why they hadn’t been showing up.

It’s been 26 years since I first got my hands wrapped back in WPB in the local kickboxing gym (name escapes me-working in trying to find it) just because I wanted to work out but had learned that both running and the gym were not for me. Jumped in with both feet (pun somewhat intended) and was getting decent with it until a stomach bug landed me in the hospital for about a month. Never really got back to the gym after that. Wasn’t too much longer after I moved to Houston.

But turning 50 and having my first blood pressure scare (thankfully nothing serious) has me back on the bag. Still the best workout for me.
