How to Do the Water Test for Porosity:

Clean and Dry Your Hair: Make sure your hair is freshly washed and completely dry. This test works best on clean hair, as product buildup can interfere with the results.

Fill a Glass with Water: Use a clear glass or cup and fill it with room temperature water. You don’t need too much water; just enough to submerge a strand of your hair.

Take a Strand of Hair: Select a strand of hair from your head. Make sure it’s not a broken or cut piece. You can take it from any part of your hair.

Place the Strand in the Water: Drop the strand of hair into the glass of water. Don’t stir or touch the water—just let it sit.

Observe the Hair’s Behavior:

 * If the Hair Sinks Quickly: This indicates high porosity. Hair with high porosity absorbs water easily, which means it can lose moisture quickly.

 * If the Hair Floats for a While and Slowly Sinks: This suggests medium porosity. Hair with medium porosity absorbs and retains moisture well.

 * If the Hair Stays Floating on Top: This indicates low porosity. Hair with low porosity is resistant to absorbing moisture, so it stays afloat longer.

List of Oils for Each Porosity Type:

For Low Porosity Hair:
* Jojoba oil
* Argan oil
* Avocado oil
* Almond oil

For Medium Porosity Hair:
* Black seed oil
* Grape seed oil
* Neem oil
* Rosehip oil

For High Porosity Hair:
* Castor oil
* Coconut oil
* Olive oil
