Hey y’all! Life has changed a lot for me over the past few years, and entering 2024 was definitely an even larger step into my future. There’s so many wonderful things that I could sit here and write about.

However, I’m gonna cut to the chase: I am no longer working as a hairstylist!

It’s been an exciting and fulfilling journey since making the decision to return to school almost 2 years ago. Now I can confidently say I made the right choice, and that I am working full time in my field as a Behavior Technician! While I will miss being able to help you all express yourselves through the power of beauty. I feel confident in my future studying behavior. It has been a pleasure and an honor to work alongside so many talented stylists through the years.

Most of all, it has been my pleasure knowing all of you and being able to provide you all with such confidence. “Who is gonna do my hair now?” You might ask! Please feel free to reach out to me privately any time you are looking for a specific referral. I will also tag and mention stylists or salons that I believe will be a good fit for you.

For many of you, I know financial constraints can be tightening. Should you find yourself maintaining business with I would highly recommend either Ranisha or Sara. Though they all have received the same training.

Sweetwater Preserve is a beautiful walking trail, here in Gainesville Florida that I find myself spending a lot of time exploring my spirituality. Whether spending time by the creek, or casually exploring the trails, my soul feels at peace and liberated here. I enjoy exploring myself, and my deepest thoughts when here. At time, it’s been a place for spiritual bonding between friends and I. Other times I venture here alone. Every time, I find peace, tranquility, and another piece of myself.

What a beautiful blonde 😍 Did ya miss me? As many of you know, I’m making a lot of big changes, and one of them is shifting away from full-time salon work. The past 4 years have been nothing shy of instrumental to my growth, and pursuit of finding myself. I never knew what this career would bring to me, but I’m eternally grateful for everything that it did. While I will not be leaving the salon completely for a while, by the end of this year/beginning of next year I plan to shift my primary focus to Psychology.

This does NOT mean I will not be available to service all of you beautiful people. It just means my availability will change, somewhat dramatically. Let’s get your appointment set, or let’s partner you up with a stylist who can achieve your goals in my absence.

Today is bittersweet for us my friend. I cannot express how grateful I am for all the memories we shared over the years. This first picture, on the top was the first photo we ever took together. On the bottom is our most recent one here in Gainesville. I’m happy to have been there with you through some of the most influential periods of both of our lives. If you would have told me when we met, just how much we would go through together. I wouldn’t have believed you. I love my friends with my whole entire existence, and for you guys it’s no different. Finished “The Deviant’s War The Homosexual Vs. The United States of America” today and all I can say is wow. beautifully captures a powerful piece of history in this novel. Many of us young q***r people have not been given the opportunity to learn about the trials and tribulation of our community. Most importantly the aspect of perseverance and never giving up. Dr. Kameny faced so many boundaries and hurdles in his fight. His life was nothing shy of daring to show people we are not ill we are not immodest. We are homosexuals, “take me on my terms or lose greater than I will. That goes for family too. Gay is good and that is that.” Every q***r person who cares to know our history should read this novel. Before gay liberation there was the homophile movement. Without the efforts of those before us we would not have the opportunities we have today. Bravo Dr. Cervini on this literary masterpiece!

This picture is just over 3 years old. It’s always a kind memory for me every year. Originally posted with the caption “you already know I got the job.” It reminds me of so much as I look back on these past 3 years, and what they’ve brought for me. When I began my journey as a cosmetologist I never knew what opportunities it would provide. I never knew the relationships I would form with people along the way. I never knew how many hearts I would touch, and how many times mine would be touched. It brings me to tears just typing this post. To know how much this career has changed my life. 3 years ago hired me in Millhopper. The friendship we developed was one I never expected, but continuously grows organically. Today I’m humbled to say that I am going back where it all began. The support and relationships I can develop as a leader within this company are beyond instrumental to the journey that lies ahead in academia. While I could write a list of the things that I can attain in this space, I think I’ll save that for myself to cherish. I’ve always been told I’m destined for greatness, and with my life plans that lie ahead I have no doubt I will achieve nothing shy of it. While greatness is subjective, just remember to be the best person you can be. Every day. It’ll take you far.
