We’ve been unusually quiet for almost two weeks, so in the spirit of ScentiMental transparency…here’s why.

Right after creating our FIRST Giveaway Collection, my sciatica put me on bed rest.

The NEXT DAY—right on par with schools starting again—our household started getting sick.

When you’re immunocompromised, that becomes SUPER fun. 🙃

Symptoms worsened enough for ER visits. Tests came back negative, and we finished our antibiotics yesterday.

At my worst, I dropped to 99 lbs. Soapmaking stopped—but Giveaway work didn’t.

From bed, I watched entries, researched and wrote recipes while trying to regain my strength.

We even managed to celebrate our son’s birthday this weekend…

There was ZERO sleep last night.

There may be a 2–3 hour nap scheduled for tonight.

But somehow?

Today is a bittersweet day.

BUT—we’re going to focus on the positives. I promise. ❤️

There is a reason I share so much about my health.

It isn’t for pity.
It isn’t for sales.
It isn’t for attention.

It’s because I HOPE that somewhere, a mother reads one of these posts, recognizes something familiar in her daughter, and starts asking questions before her daughter ends up like me.

I was a gymnast.
A soccer player.
A dancer.
Badminton. Colorguard. Ballet. Jazz. Musical theater.

I did it ALL.

And now?

Apparently, spending about 10 hours standing and creating in my own kitchen—with no heavy lifting—followed by roughly 8 hours sitting down to write an article is enough to put me back on bedrest.

Again.

Some of you may remember that about three months ago, my sciatica became so severe that I ended up in the ER because I could no longer move.

Only this time, I refuse to go back to the ER.

And if you live with chronic pain or chronic illness, you probably understand exactly why.

You probably ALSO understand how I somehow managed to hoard the pain relief I was given during that ER visit for three entire months. 😂

I stretched that emergency supply as far as humanly possible.

Today, it officially ran out.

So where are those positives I promised?

This Movie/TV Show Giveaway. ❤️

Because instead of lying here on bedrest feeling useless, frustrated, and angry at my own body…

I have worlds waiting for me.

I have movies and shows to watch.

Characters to study.

Scenes to dissect.

Stories to interpret.

Recipes to write.

Collections to dream up.

And entire little worlds that still need to be turned into something you can hold in your hands.

My body may have put me in bed, but it didn’t take away my ability to create.

There is a thought that has been sitting heavily with me, though.

If my body reacts like this when the physical activity is comparatively minimal…

How much longer do I realistically have before in-person events become physically impossible for me?

I don’t know.

And today, I’m choosing not to let that question win.

Instead, I’m going to hope that by the time my body makes that decision for me, we’ve built enough of an online presence that ScentiMental Soaps doesn’t have to disappear from your lives simply because I can no longer stand behind a market table every weekend.

Maybe one day, instead of me bringing all of these creations to you…

I’ll have built a community strong enough to let me keep creating what I love—and send a little piece of that love directly into your homes. ❤️

For today?

I’ve got a bed, a screen, a notebook, a Giveaway full of stories…

…and a LOT of recipes left to write.

Yesterday—Friday—my husband didn’t walk back through our front door from work until 10 PM.

And today?

RIGHT NOW, he is already back in his work clothes, climbing into his commercial HVAC van, with a schedule that almost guarantees we won’t see him again until sometime tonight. 😅

This heat has our HVAC technicians WORKING, y’all. 🥵

It’s been a few days since you’ve heard from us, so it’s time for a Giveaway update!

We began this week by officially closing the Giveaway entries—which meant the creation process could finally begin! 🎉

We spent the weekend and Monday selecting the very first Collection and developing every individual recipe. The winning entry played nonstop in the background while we researched commentary from the characters, actors, director, and producers; analyzed hidden messages and deeper meanings; and experienced every emotion imaginable along the way.

Once the recipes were complete, the necessary prep work began—and, as of yesterday, it is officially finished!

I know what some of you are thinking:

“Didn’t we begin submitting entries almost two months ago? We want our gift baskets already!” 😂

Believe me, I am just as excited as you are—but I refuse to take shortcuts.

These Collections are the babies of our collaboration. They deserve respect, intention, and plenty of tender, loving care. Every product should meaningfully represent the entry that inspired it—not simply share its name.

We are currently waiting for just TWO final items to arrive from our vendors. Once they’re here, we are officially ready to create!

To ensure that every recipe goes according to plan—thereby preventing any future tantrums from yours truly—and that the accompanying article is completed to perfection, our first Collection will be created THIS SUNDAY!

The full article will be published by TUESDAY so I can include photographs of the finished products at the bottom. You’ll get to see the inspiration, symbolism, artistic interpretation, creation process, and final results all together.

☀️ A SMALL CHANGE OF PLANS FOR TODAY! ☀️

We were planning to be at the Farmers Market on Main Street-Alachua today, but this heat has been absolutely CRUEL—not only to AC units, but to the HVAC technicians working overtime to keep everyone cool. 🥵

The demand has gotten high enough that my husband has officially been placed on call a week early.

And for those of you who may be new here: because of my own health concerns, as well as my vehicle currently not being quite up to par for Alachua County’s standards, that means ScentiMental Soaps will unfortunately be absent from the market today.

BUT—just this week! ❤️

We’ll be back at the Farmers Market next Saturday!

There’s also a very good chance you’ll still catch us wandering around the market today as customers. 😂 I don’t just sell at the Farmers Market—I shop there every weekend too! It’s one of the places I stock up on fresh, nutritious goodies to get me through the week, so I’m hoping we’ll still be able to stop by and support our fellow vendors. 🥬🍅🥚

Several months ago, ScentiMental Soaps was hit with an onslaught of fraudulent orders—from automated bots as well as human scammers testing stolen cards.

I have our payment system arranged so that customers never pay additional card-processing fees, whether they shop online or in person. Those fees are paid by me.

Every fraudulent and high-risk order was immediately canceled and refunded—but I was left carrying the processing fees from every transaction.

The funding we had set aside for the holiday season, inventory restocks, and this year’s Giveaway Collections was suddenly gone. For months, that money remained in limbo.

But after all this time…

🎉 WE FINALLY HAVE OUR FUNDING BACK!! 🎉

While we waited, we made sure we were doing everything possible to prevent this from ever happening again.

🔒 We upgraded our security by implementing THREE different security services.

🚫 We identified and removed more than 150 scam subscribers, preventing them from receiving correspondence, business information, or ScentiPoints—and added another security measure to ensure they cannot simply resubscribe.

🛒 We also introduced additional security throughout the checkout process, further restricting activity that may be flagged as fraudulent.

To every customer who knew what happened and stepped forward to support us through legitimate online orders: thank you.

THIS is why I choose to give back, remain humble, and place community above monetary success. When we were knocked down, our community helped hold us up—and I will never forget that.

Now I can finally begin preparing some HUGE vendor orders to restock our ingredients and fragrance oils, prepare for the holiday season, and invest in new, powerful, beneficial ingredients to experiment with! 🧼🌿🧪
