Can we please stop being afraid of warmth? There’s a BIG difference between warm and brassy.
When adding warm caramel, cinnamon, and lighter chocolate tones to brunette hair that completely changes it without making it feel “highlighted.” That little bit of contrast is what gives the hair all that movement and dimension instead of leaving it looking like one solid color.
Okay, brunette girls, would you do this?

Can we talk about what adding depth can do for the hair?
Sometimes the answer isn’t more blonde.The deeper base gives her hair more richness and shine, while the lighter pieces keep it from looking like one solid, dark color. Here’s what I always explain in the salon: darker doesn’t have to mean flat and solid. Leaving different tones in the hair gives it movement, richness and so much more shine. Choosing the right color placement, depth and dimension can completely change the way the hair looks, even when we haven’t changed how much hair she actually has.

Do you know why I tell you to wait 48 hours before washing your hair after a color or highlight appointment?
During those first 48 hours, your hair is still settling after the color service and the cuticle needs time to fully close back down. Shampooing too soon can allow that beautiful fresh color to fade faster, especially if your hair is already porous or damaged.
Whether we’re lightening and brightening, covering gray, adding dimension, or going a few shades darker, 48 hours is still what I recommend.
And remember, your hair color is an investment. You’ve spent the time and money getting it where you want it, so your home care matters too. That means using salon quality shampoo and conditioner. Dove, Pantene, TRESemmé, Aussie and similar drugstore shampoos are not what I recommend if your goal is keeping your color fresh, shiny and vibrant as long as possible.
