all her heart. On many occasions you would find her reading the Good Book and praying out loud. It’s the greatest honor to be named after her. She passed away in 2000 at the age of 86. Then there was Florence, known as “Flo.” She was my grandmother from England, my mother’s mum. She lived among the sea shores where she ran a bed & breakfast and worked as a pastry chef, while raising 2 children. She opened up her home to soldiers during the war, and made sure they were well fed. It was always so exciting to receive packages from across the seas. She would send us candy that we didn’t have in America, and I would try to make it last as long as possible. There are so many memories that I will always cherish. She passed away in 1986 at the age of 87. These 2 women, from 2 different sides of the world, were dearly loved and known for caring for others. They enjoyed life even while facing hard times. As the granddaughter of Ruth & Flo, I want to share with you the importance of taking time to soak in the moment and to be thankful for each day.
