🙏🏽We complain about the very things we once prayed for.

The slow mornings.
The busy salon days.
The loud house.
The full schedule.

At some point… those were answered prayers. 💕

Scripture tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 to “rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances…” 📖
Not some circumstances.
All.

Joy isn’t found in perfect situations.
It’s found in a heart that remembers how blessed it really is.

That doesn’t mean life isn’t hard.
It means we don’t let hardship make us forget God’s goodness. 🙌🏼

❌Complaining shifts our focus to what’s missing.
✝️Gratitude anchors us in what’s already been given.

Today, I’m choosing to pause before I complain…
and remember:

This life I’m living?
It’s full of things I once begged God for.

🤍Let’s be women who carry joy,
not because everything is easy,
but because God is still good in all of it.

✨ What’s one thing you can thank God for today?

🙊We’ve gotten really comfortable with “respectable sins.”

The ones that don’t shock anyone.
The ones we laugh about.
The ones that feel small.

But Scripture doesn’t rank sin the way culture does.

In Romans 1:29–30, gossip is listed right next to murder and sexual immorality.

Let that sink in.

We treat gossip like a personality trait.
God lists it with bloodshed. 😬

We laugh about it.
He calls it wickedness.

Sin doesn’t become smaller just because culture makes it normal.
If it dishonors someone made in God’s image, it dishonors God.

And if we’re honest… salons, friend groups, churches, workplaces…these are the easiest places for it to slip in.
“Did you hear…?”
“Don’t repeat this, but…”
“I’m just concerned about her…”

What feels harmless can slowly poison a culture.

So here’s the invitation:

Before you speak, ask:
Is it necessary?
Is it kind?
Would I say this if they were standing here?

Our Lord isn’t asking for perfection..if we could attain HIS perfection, we wouldn’t NEED Christ. Instead he’s asking for a heart posture…a repentant heart and a heart that seeks His righteousness.

So let’s be women who create safe rooms.
Rooms where reputations are protected.
Rooms where words give life.
Rooms that reflect Christ. ✝️

Guard your tongue. It carries more weight than you think. 💕

✨The guest experience isn’t an “extra” here…it’s the whole point.

Fresh coffee. Real conversation. Thoughtful details.
And hair you feel confident walking out the door in.

We want you to leave lighter than when you walked in. 🤍

The Fruit of the Spirit isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being intentional. 🌿

Galatians 5:22–23 reminds us of the 9 fruits that should show up in our everyday lives:

✨ Love ~ choosing kindness, even when it’s hard
✨ Joy ~ finding contentment beyond circumstances
✨ Peace ~ responding calmly instead of reacting emotionally
✨ Patience ~ giving grace when things don’t go our way
✨ Kindness ~ speaking gently and acting thoughtfully
✨ Goodness ~ doing what’s right, even when no one sees
✨ Faithfulness ~ showing up consistently and with integrity
✨ Gentleness ~ leading with humility and compassion
✨ Self-control ~ pausing before we speak or act

When we practice these daily…at work, at home, and in our relationships, we reflect Christ in the simplest, most powerful ways.

Which fruit are you working on today? 🤍🌱

Happy New Year!

🍂 Season Shift, Soul Shift 🍂
As the air gets cooler and the days slow down, it’s a good time to pause and care for the things that need renewal—your hair, your heart, and your habits.

🫧Just like our hair needs extra nourishment when the seasons change, so do we. The dryness, the shedding, the changes—all part of the process of growth.

✨Practical Tip: Switch to a richer conditioner, add a weekly hair mask, and protect those ends from cold air and heat tools.

“Lord, let them see You in me.”

💜 That’s our heart behind every conversation, every appointment, every act of service here. In a world that’s quick to rush and compare, we want Olive & Oak to be a place that slows down…where peace, kindness, and grace are felt the moment you walk in.

When we listen well, serve with joy, and love without condition, that’s when people see Him in us. ✝️

So today, wherever you are, in our chair, at home, or in the thick of a busy day, let’s make it our prayer:
💛 To love like Jesus.
💛 To speak with gentleness.
💛 To show patience, even when it’s hard.
💛 To serve others with genuine care.
May they see Him through us.
