💛 “Why doesn’t my blonde stay the same tone?”

You leave the salon with the perfect icy, beige, ch*****ne, or creamy blonde… but a few weeks later, it starts looking warmer or brassier. Why?

Because toner is not permanent color. Your blonde underneath still contains natural warm pigments, and as your toner gradually fades, those yellow, gold, or orange tones begin to peek back through.

✨ What can make your toner fade faster?
• Washing your hair frequently
• Hot water
• Hard water and mineral buildup
• Heat styling without protection
• Lots of sun exposure
• Swimming in chlorine
• Using shampoos that are too harsh or clarifying too often
• Going too long between maintenance appointments

💜 What about purple shampoo?

Purple shampoo can help neutralize yellow tones, but it isn't a replacement for a professional toner. It also won't fix orange brassiness, and using too much can leave blonde looking dull, muddy, or overly violet.

🧴 How can you keep your blonde looking fresh longer?

Use salon-quality, color-safe products, wash in cooler water when possible, protect your hair from heat, and follow the maintenance routine recommended for your blonde.

And remember: blonde is a high-maintenance color. If you love a very cool or icy finish, toner refreshes between lightening appointments may be part of your regular maintenance.

Your blonde isn't necessarily “turning orange” because something went wrong. Sometimes your toner has simply faded and the warmth that was already underneath is showing again. ✨
