If you've memorized a step but don't understand why it matters, it's much easier to become confused when you're nervous or when a question is worded differently than you expected.

I want you to understand the **reason behind the procedure.**

Why is this step performed?

What are you preventing?

What would make the procedure incorrect?

What should happen next?

That type of thinking creates stronger candidates.

Knowing how to perform a service in the salon and performing it during a State Board examination are not exactly the same experience.

**Can you demonstrate what you know correctly, consistently and within the testing environment?**
