First Baptist Church members this morning learned about Francis Marion and his association with Georgetown. Keith Wall provided a trolley for members and everyone had a wonderful time learning about this great American. They also enjoyed lunch while visiting Hopsewee Plantation.

Saturday was a Georgetown Girls’s Day for these five ladies from North and South Carolina.
They loved our small town charm where history still lives. They also loved our many restaurants and quaint shops!
And they’ll be back with some more of their friends.

Many of you have indicated that you would like to go on our Following The Footsteps of Francis Marion walking tour.
Our next tour will be Saturday morning, February 14th at 10AM. (Valetines Day)
The tour lasts 90 minutes and the cost is $20 per person payable by cash or Venmo at the end of the tour.
We will meet at 801 Front Street which is Francis Marion Park next to The River Room.
Comfortable shoes and a bottle of water are recommended.
Limited to 15 people, first come, first serve.

It was on this date in 1781 when Patriot Commanders “Light Horse” Harry Lee and Francis “Swamp Fox” Marion led a surprise raid on Georgetown, capturing British officers and disrupting Loyalist operations during the American Revolutionary War.
