Our Story

Hi, my name is Denise and I make all the soaps and body butters found here.

I am happily married with children, 2nd time at love for us both. My husband of 1½ years surprised me with a 50th birthday cruise and it was while ‘cruising’, I learned how toxin build up interferes with weight loss. With skin being our largest organ, it really is the gateway for many toxins via the products we use i.e. soaps, lotions & shampoos.

My husband & I (with my siblings), had talked for a long time about opportunities to start our own business. We have six children among us and after our youngest left for college in August 2015, I used my newly found 'free' time to start 'soaping'. After much research and trials, I shared my products with family and friends and here I am, really, a dream come true.

We owe much to our family for their support but especially to our parents, Roosevelt & Hugh, Patricia & Gwendolyn, and all who went before them. Our parents have taught us all we know about life and love and real beauty. Still, this site is named for my mom, she has been and continues to be my mentor.

Before I got off the ground, I had many helpers. Many thanks to Karla, Garth, David, Susan, Jeanne & family, Dot, Davie, Elaine, Esi, Aunts, Uncles and cousins in Toronto, Denver, MD, Trinidad & Tobago & LA - for their support, purchases, testing & ideas. My amazing and talented cousin Leecy did my logo and provided website, branding and overall business support.

My first customers are very special to me as they put their trust and faith in me - Nigel, Lori for my 1st fundraiser, Liz for my 1st wholesale order & Tiffany for displaying samples at her Annapolis B&B.

About My Products - They are made from natural ingredients, oils & butters that are nourishing to the skin, ground shells, dried flowers & herbs, clay to detox, natural colorants like turmeric and moringa, essential oils and plant based fragrance oils. While my soap cannot guarantee relief to any ailments, essential oils & clays are known for their therapeutic and detoxification properties.

For my soaps, I combine oils to derive the best of each, i.e. olive for moisture, coconut for its ability to clean and palm for its good lather. Also, additional heat is NOT applied, allowing the benefits of the ingredients to be preserved, hence the term 'cold process' soaps.

The real story however, is what is NOT in my soaps: triclosan, sodium laurel sulfate, diethanolmine, parabens, formaldehyde, synthetic fragrances, PEG-6 and more. These products are found in commercial soaps and are bad for our bodies and bad for the environment.
