What is a postpartum doula?

A postpartum doula supports new mothers and their families in navigating the new adventures of parenthood! The "fourth trimester" or postpartum period can be full of uncertainties, fears, and sleep deprivation. This is completely normal and to be expected. A postpartum doula is a helpful hand who can answer your questions, help you make informed decisions regarding your new baby and your own care, as well as help serve as an extra set of hands. Our job is to meet you where you are at to support your healing and overall wellbeing. This could mean:

-Tending to your baby while you take a nap
-Assisting you with how to change diapers like a pro
-Preparing nutritious meals
-Teaching you how to swaddle, soothe, massage, and otherwise care for your little one
-Help siblings to transition to their role of big brother/sister
-Breastfeeding or bottle feeding support
-Birth experience debriefing
-Emotional support

The list could continue as every birth and postpartum experience is unique and could require different support!
