As many of you know, outside of doing hair I adore horses. Especially my big guy Sully who has been my best friend for a decade and I’m sure I’ve told you stories while you’ve sat in my chair. It’s time to say goodbye next week and I willl be taking a few personal days to grieve. Please excuse my delay in getting back to texts and voicemails during this difficult time. Thanks for your support 💕

Important upcoming changes
To all my valued clients, I have to thank you.
Many of you took a chance on me when my business was young, and that's something I'll always be grateful for.
Over the past 13 years I've been lucky to work with some awesome people and even become friends as a result of our time together. It's been quite a ride!
I'm in your inbox today to tell you about a few changes.
As you may know 2020-2021 has been full of changes/challenges/continuing education for me, not to mention sky-rocketing costs for my supplies. Because of this, I need to make some adjustments to the way I preform my services. I will be extending service times, which will allow more time for me to focus on you and your hair. In the past, my schedule was often too tight to be able to be able to do some extra quality finishes and I felt rushed to stay on schedule. Due to this, you will see a change in service offerings and my rates will be higher than the last time we were together.
Effective June 10th my services and prices will be changing including pre-booked appointments.
Thank you for being more than just a client, but for being my extended family. I would still love to see you and have you in the salon. I do, however, understand that with these changes it may mean that you will need to look for a new stylist.
Click the link at the bottom and you can check rates and my full suite of services (and some new exciting offerings).
Thank you again for all your support and excitement. Your continued support means the world to me.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.

Wow! What an insane whirlwind I have been on since Phase 2 began Friday. Things look different at the salon, and I know you can’t tell if I’m smiling behind my mask or even can hardly see my eyes behind my safety glasses, but know I am so very happy to be doing what I love with all of my amazing clients.

Opening this week is still a maybe. Hang in there.
Not to sound like a broken record, but know masks are REQUIRED and do not enter the salon until I invite you in so we can maintain 50 occupancy. Thank you for your patience!
Waiting to see if we will move into phase 2 this week! If we do and you have an appointment, please know we will require a mask and no extra guests. Yes, a mask even if you’re getting a color.

It’s going to be a bit. I’m working on canceling the first part of June tomorrow. 😭
Today we confirmed 16 new cases in Pierce County. Our total is 1,907 cases.
We're reporting 1 new death, a Tacoma man in his 70s with underlying health conditions. Our total is 73 deaths.
Department of Health reports 24,558 Pierce County tests with 7.6% positive. Care facility negative tests are unavailable. About 82,000 tests aren't yet assigned to a county. Our positive test rate is likely lower.
How will we know when Pierce County is close to Phase 2?
A county must have fewer than 10 new cases per 100,000 residents over a 14-day period to apply to move to Phase 2 early. For Pierce County, this means fewer than 90 new cases over a 14-day period, or an average of about 6 new cases per day. In the last 14 days we had 167 new cases, an average of about 12 new cases per day.
We’ll report this number with our case data each day.

Hey all... just an update. I’m not feeling optimistic that I will be able to open 6/1. Pierce county is in the top 4 case wise. I will not cancel until I know officially. 😭 miss you all!
All Washington counties 'will probably not' reopen on June 1, state says Though there's still some uncertainty, Washington state officials say it's unlikely all counties will be in Phase 2 of Gov. Inslee's recovery plan next week.
I’m still working out some details, but this is what you can expect for appointments in phase 2:
1. All clients are REQUIRED to wear a mask. If you feel uncomfortable with this or have a medical condition that inhibits you from being able to wear a mask, I am forced to reschedule your appointment. This is NOT optional.
2. When you arrive, you will need to notify me via text/call. DO NOT enter the salon until I am ready. This is to maintain our limit of 50% capacity.
3. To limit the amount of clients, I ask you come alone unless there is a child under 16 receiving a service or client who depends on a caregiver.
4. NO outside food or beverages and NO self serve beverages available.
5. Before receiving a service, you must wash your hands for 20 seconds in the salon.
6. Reducing time in the salon is encouraged, this means washing your hair at home or leaving with a minimal style.
7. Please be prepared to wait. This will be a rough few first weeks for our entire industry. We have an immense amount of sanitation and other precautions to do constantly.
I’m not sure yet, but I am more than likely forced to reschedule a lot of June to be in compliance with the new protocols for the Start Safe plan. Sanitation between clients will take up to an extra 20 mins. Clients WILL BE required to wear a mask until further notice. This will be an entirely new way of life for me, I am still working on the details. We have to operate at 50% capacity along with working 6ft apart from another stylist and client. You will wait in your own vehicle until I am ready. This means I will have to cut my weekly appointments that are currently scheduled in half. I am extremely eager to get back in the salon, but please be patient as I navigate the new normal.
Hope you are all well and healthy ❤️

For anyone that missed the news, the order has been extended to 6/1. Salons are in phase 2, and if all goes well, I could be back by 6/1. All May appointments will be cancelled and I will need you to reschedule online, but please wait until I open it up. I have blocked most of my dates so I can make sure everyone is notified.
Just in case you missed my email, here’s some important information about going forth:

I am writing this to get in touch with all of you. I have been a stylist now for 12 years and love every minute of it. I not only enjoy what I do, but also all of my amazing clients that I think of as friends.
Going back to work is going to be extremely different. At D Hair Co. I have 6 other stylists I work beside closely, figuratively and physically. With the new protocols that will be in place to prevent the spread of the virus, we will have to adapt to the new rules.
When I first started rescheduling for all of this, I booked and allowed only for how things were prior to Covid-19. I am certain that will not work with the reality of how this changed our lives and how we will be doing things once the order is lifted. Georgia, a state who has allowed salons to reopen, has set standards on how things will go forth. Rules such as no double booking, clients waiting in their vehicles until their stylist is ready, extra time for proper sanitation between clients, and not working closer than 6ft to another stylist and client. It will take some planning with all of us at the salon to fairly divide our time up to be in compliance and then figure out how to book everyone accordingly.
Because I am one person, I cannot call and reschedule every client myself. I am still brainstorming on how I am going to do this, and I won't be able to do much until Governor Inslee announces our date to resume business and the new protocols for our industry is set.
With this being said, I ask that you be patient and please know that I will most likely be cancelling my entire May/June calendar. After this, I will have you rebook yourselves online. I will be calling and texting back people with questions as promptly as possible. This is certainly not ideal, but I feel is the most fair. I will not be able to work as much additional time as I originally imagined to catch up, but I will try to be as efficient as possible while I am there.
For now, I have blocked out the majority of my May/June calendar anticipating these changes. I am not going to have you schedule your new appointments until there are official dates and protocols in place to avoid having to yet again, try to rebook everyone.
I cannot wait to be back behind the chair and see all of you! I hope you and your families are all staying healthy.
