I am a hair designer. I help people express to the world how they wish to be perceived.

~This is what I would call short-long hair.

Sometimes a guest wants their hair shorter, but also wants it to move with animation the way medium to long hair does.
Leaving Sharon‘s hair long on top provides the softness, cutting it closer on her sides from her ears down makes it short and neat.

Anita has worn various bob hairstyles over the many years I have known her. Yesterday we were inspired to do a soft rounded shape that showed off her beautiful natural color.
I sliced into her hair from ears down aggressively, cutting large triangles. The goal was to put some added striations throughout her hair to show off the fabric.
I also cut her bob into the smallest hollow on her neck, this gives the illusion of elongation.
She can now wear her new style forward as well as swept back.

I got to spend some time with this wonderful woman, Lynn.

She asked me to get rid of her “old lady hair”.

Her concern was her head shape in the back, she wanted it very short and sassy, but also did not want to be flat.

I drew a line in my mind from her jawline on her profile and extended it to her crown. I left the length longer and was very careful not to texturize. The goal was to re-create her head shape through a haircut.

Thank you Shelby Bartrug for the referral, we spent most of the time talking about how much we adore you!

After Teah lost her hair due to medical treatment, it grew in sparse on top and thick in nape area.
Yesterday I created a micro pixie so we can start to regrow a longer style again.

Carrie has worn an asymmetrical style for years and was wanting to wear it even again.
Where your style begins and ends tells another persons eyes where to go. I look for two things; what is a pretty feature on client and where are her hollows.
I started her framing in the hollows of Carrie’s cheekbones, and ended length near her pretty poppy lip color, (which I adore on her).
We wanted a clean and chunky aesthetic so I used my shears only to cut her hair.
PS. This is her natural hair color, what a lucky lady!

It always warms my heart when I get mothers and daughters in my shop. Witnessing their bonds is so special. Usually a haircut is just part of their plans, hearing about their days to go shopping, or out to lunch afterwards, it’s all so sweet. It’s fun to get to be a part of memories being made.

Ashleigh came in this morning, we were ready for a big style change.
When I look at a client, from designers eyes, I choose styles that fits their face shape.
It’s a pretty simple formula, where a guest has most of their volume I place weight, and where they have the least I take the weight away.
The end result is to give the illusion of an oval face shape.
This will still give Ashleigh the feeling of having longer hair, and it is more conducive for how she likes to style, which is to allow it to air dry.
Simply putting a styling cream in and raking your fingers through from back moving forward, will give it an undone feeling. Once it is fully dry, she will take her hands and sort of ruffle up the top crown area for a little bit of volume.

Nikki brought in her inspiration photo down below, we used that as a feeling we wanted from her new style.
This edgy haircut definitely suits Nikki, she is a strong woman and is comfortable expressing herself.
Design speaking, removing the width of her hair gave the illusion of lengthening her face shape into more of an oval.
No doubt she is going to have a lot of fun with this!

Michelle was new to me yesterday, she is so lucky to have so much hair to work with.
I did an undercut, removing a lot of the hair underneath at the nape. I brought her bob up to her jawline, pulling the eye upward in one continuous line.
She has naturally curly hair, I used my shears only to blunt out the ends, this removed the frizz, giving the curl a stronger form.

Lisa came in yesterday, we had so much fun!
She is very active, at the gym almost every day of the week. She wanted a style that she could pull the top up into a little knot while she works out.
It’s cut asymmetrically, doing something a little different and fun to match her vibrant personality.

My mom came in and got her hair done, it’s a nice time to visit and catch up with each other.
My mom loves having big hair, I guarantee you she left and back combed her hair in her car before heading back home. 🤣

~This is honestly something I’ve never even thought of in all the years I’ve been doing hair.

Theresa likes to be able to pull her hair back throughout the day and so we decided to put in a built-in hair tie!

Unfortunately, we were so busy chatting that we forgot to take a before photo.

I kept out two sections in the bottom part of her neck on the left and right. I then cut 7 inches of her hair off, leaving the two braided strands.

She now can use them to make a headband or a ponytail on the spot simply by tying her hair back into a cute little knot.

I enjoy my visits with Theresa, as I have watched her grow up over the years into a lovely young woman.

Thank you, Theresa for helping me stretch my brain today, I sure do adore you, you make me smile.
