Self Gratitude

A lesser known form of gratitude is self-gratitude, or gratitude habits that benefit the individual practicing them.

Practicing self-gratitude is about being grateful for yourself, what you have, and the life around you. By making this a habit, you can shift your thinking to be more positive and beneficial.

When was the last time you practiced Self-Gratitude?

How the rule of rethinking helps you think, learn, and grow

The rule of re-thinking is simple:

When you're presented with information that is different from what you believe, you resist the urge to immediately dismiss it. Instead, you force yourself to listen carefully; then, you examine the new idea in the light of available evidence.

The rule of rethinking is valuable because, first, we all get emotionally attached to our beliefs. And second, everyone hates to be wrong. These are just two reasons why we vehemently defend our opinions, even when we haven't taken the time to analyze or properly vet those opinions.

"I think too many of us spend too much time thinking like preachers, prosecutors, and politicians," psychologist Adam Grant, author of Think Again, said in an interview. "When we're in preacher mode, we're convinced we're right; when we're in prosecutor mode, we're trying to prove someone else wrong; and when we're in politician mode, we're trying to win the approval of our audience. Each of these mental modes can stand in the way of 'thinking again.'"

Grant recommends that instead, you learn to think like a scientist.

"Thinking like a scientist does not mean you need to own a telescope or a microscope," he says. "It just means that you favor humility over pride and curiosity over conviction...You don't let your ideas become your identity. You look for reasons why you might be wrong, not just reasons why you must be right."

Your productivity requires rest.

Physicians, athletes, philosophers, poets, religious leaders, and corporate leaders all tell us the same thing: take time to rest. It is absolutely essential for a balanced, healthy life.

Yet, when you ask people in today’s frenzied culture if they intentionally set aside time for rest, most will tell you they are too busy. Even fewer would say they set aside any concentrated time (12-24 hours) for rest. There are just too many things to get done, too many demands, too many responsibilities, too many bills, and too much urgency. Nobody can afford to waste time resting in today’s results-oriented world.

Unfortunately, this hectic pace is causing damage to our quality of life. We are destroying every sense of our being (body, mind, and soul). There is a reason we run faster and work harder, but only fall further behind. Our lives have become too full and too out of balance. Somewhere along the way, we lost the essential practice of concentrated rest.

But we would be wise to reclaim the practice of resting one day each week. Consider the benefits of concentrated rest for your body, mind, and soul:

Healthier body
Less stress
Deeper relationships
Opportunity for reflection
Balance
Increased production

Capture the lost practice of taking rest and start living again.

Oh Shucks!! šŸ¤—

Personally, I would always eat and serve oysters "au naturel" - freshly shucked, sea water still in it's shell.

But occasionally I enjoy having oysters with a nice chargrill topped with crispy smoked bacon, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, and butter makes. Once you taste it you wonder why you haven’t tried it before.

Just remember that the oysters are only as good as your source, so make sure you are purchasing them from a reputable fishmonger such as mine in Brooklyn

Ingredients
1 dozen fresh Oysters opened
3.5 oz. bacon diced
1 lemon
3 tbsp ketchup
3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Coarse salt

Hi Community šŸ‘‹šŸ¾,

So I’m not sure about you guys, but to be perfectly honest, there’s times that I just don’t know what to cook. You have ingredients but a recipe doesn’t immediately come to mind. Especially when you want something quick and healthy,

Today I’m sharing a tropical sea bass recipe with you all. By pan searing as a cooking method will give the sea bass nice crispy edges with an inside that melts. This recipe only takes minutes to make meaning you can have dinner on the table within 35 minutes!

1 cup 1/4-inch pieces peeled, cored pineapple
3/4 cup 1/4-inch pieces peeled, pitted mango
2/3 cup 1/4-inch pieces red bell pepper
1/2 cup 1/4-inch pieces seeded tomato
1/3 cup 1/4-inch pieces seeded English hothouse cucumber
1/3 cup 1/4-inch pieces red onion
3 tablespoons minced fresh cilantro
2 tablespoons minced fresh mint
2 tablespoons minced seeded jalapeƱo chili
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
6 6-ounce sea bass fillets
Olive oil

Hi Community,

Did you know that setting intentions is the way to achieve your goals? šŸ¤”

If you’ve ever been stuck and found it difficult to embrace a positive perspective, then setting intentions could be a magic shift for you. Because your intentions support goals from the inside.

When you are intentional about something, your focus is in the moment: who you are, what you do, why you do it. And it requires presence along the way, checking inside as you work on the outside.

This is why setting intentions is the way to achieve your goals. Intentions bring a special quality of focus. They act as a powerful reminder of the bigger perspective. And they trigger introspection: result aside, what am I hoping to gain from the process?

What are the intentions that you currently have set for yourself?

Let's talk fish..Baked in the oven, Grilled Mackerel with its crispy, smoky skin, and juicy flavor is the simplest fish recipe you can make on a busy night. It’s a little rustic, but a thing of beauty, with its golden crispy skin and delicious flavor. Serve it with steamed rice and a salad, you’ll have a lovely meal for dinner.

Don't forget to serve your lovely grilled mackerel sprinkled with chopped parsley and a squeeze of fresh lemon – zingy! šŸ˜‹
