Thanks for a great month at the Civic Salon! This last blog post briefly sums things up as we move on to other activities. May the ideas and initiatives emerging from the space lead to a more compassionate and resilient community.
An eventful and engaging civic experiment – wrapping up the pop-up Salon | Civic Salon Thanks to everyone who came out in January to participate in the Civic Salon pop-up space! It was an eventful month, with over 500 people coming out to workshops, meetings, presentations, and conversations over a wide range of topics focused on the convening question:

In the final workshop at The Salon on Sunday, Philip Thomas facilitated an exploration of Goshen's "Third Side", centered on the idea introduced in this TED Talk by William Ury.

The walk from "no" to "yes" William Ury, author of "Getting to Yes," offers an elegant, simple (but not easy) way to create agreement in even the most difficult situations -- from family conflict to, perhaps, the Middle East.

In support of the growing attention and emerging initiatives focused on immigrant support and ecological issues, the Community Resilience Guild will be leading a series of working sessions at the Salon dedicated to "mapping" relevant stakeholders, resources, needs, and issues. The first two sessions will be:
Wednesday, 1/18 from 2-5pm
Thursday, 1/19 from 10-12pm
