It’s important to understand the BASICS of your client’s hair!⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
Here are some regarding underlying pigment & how you can break it down into TWO SCENARIOS.⁣

What is the difference between NATURAL PIGMENT and UNDERLYING PIGMENT?⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
🤗Natural Pigment: The colour how it appears prior to any chemical process (includes colour or lightener)⁣

Natural hair colour can be categorized in TWO pigment types: ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
Eumelanin: black & brown pigments and Pheomelanin: Red and Yellow pigments.⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
🤗Underlying Pigment: The colour once the hair has been lightened. Eumelanin is easily broken down, so what is left over is the Pheomelanin or also known as the RED and YELLOW pigments post lightening. ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣

ASK YOURSELF: WILL YOU USE THESE RED AND YELLOW PIGMENTS to your ADVANTAGE?⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
OR⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
Do you need to NEUTRALIZE THESE RED AND YELLOW PIGMENTS?⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣

Scenario A: Your client is a Natural Level 2 and your target Shade is 5KK.⁣ In this case, you would be LIGHTENING the hair to a level 5 and apply the 5KK on the pre-lightened level 5. This is an example of USING the RED/YELLOW pigments to your advantage!! ⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
Scenario B: Your client is a natural level 7, and the target shade is an ASHY BLONDE. In this case, you would lighten to level 9 and apply your 9-A ASH series.⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣

IF you find that your client still holds a lot of YELLOW, then feel free to make a judgment call and NEUTRALIZE with an 0-16 to really remove that yellow pigmentation.⁣
