Abōde After Hours, birthday edition. We loved hosting our first After Hours with these girls who came simply to unwind, giggle, and celebrate! 🧖🏼♀️🤍
This week alone we’ve had client after client come in and say some version of the same thing: “I don’t even know how I’m feeling right now.” One more lake day or one more errand run.
Soaking up the last of summer with the kids while your brain is already three steps ahead: school supply lists, new schedules, fall activities, the mental load of getting everyone (and yourself) ready for the shift.
And somewhere in all of that is you. The one holding it all together. Who hasn’t stopped to ask how you’re doing in weeks. We see you. We feel it too. And we just want you to know, it’s okay to not have it all figured out right now. It’s okay to feel the joy of these last summer days and the weight of everything coming next, all at once.

Something I talk about with clients a lot: not every skin change is a skincare problem.
Maybe your routine has not changed at all, but you are still breaking out along your jawline. Maybe your skin was glowing through pregnancy and then the breakouts and dullness showed up right after the baby came. Maybe you are in your late 30s or 40s and your skin just feels different, drier, less bounce, no matter how many products you add. Maybe it is stress, a hard season, not enough sleep, and suddenly your skin is doing something it has not done in years.
All of it can trace back to hormones, not your routine. Progesterone, estrogen, cortisol, they are all connected, and your skin cannot always tell the whole story on its own.
That is where hormone testing comes in. A simple blood draw, right here, that looks at a full panel, not just one or two hormones in isolation. Once your results are back, we sit down together and go through them, because numbers on a page do not mean much without someone actually walking you through what they mean for you. From there, we can talk through options, including hormone therapy, if that is the right next step for you.

I booked this trip by myself, knowing no one, because I wanted to learn.
And if I'm being completely transparent, I felt vulnerable. Intimidated and a little out of my comfort zone. But I told myself you have to go.
After doing something every day for nearly five years, it's easy to feel like you're pretty well versed in your craft. Then you put yourself in a room full of incredibly talented people, new techniques, emerging technology and evolving science, and you're reminded just how much there still is to learn.
That might have been my biggest takeaway from the Aesthetic Extender Symposium.
Yes, I came home with new injection techniques, ideas and knowledge that I'm excited to bring into my practice. But I also came home reminded of how important it is to keep putting yourself in rooms where you don't know everything.
To collaborate. To ask questions. To watch how others practice. To challenge the way you've always done things. To stay curious.
Sometimes you just have to do it scared, right? I went because I wanted to learn and immerse myself in this field, and somewhere along the way, I was reminded why I love it so much.
You are never done learning in aesthetics. The science is constantly evolving, and we have the privilege of evolving alongside it, always learning, refining and becoming better for the patients who trust us with their care.
My goal is to always be a student.
