This community really has embraced me so much since I came. Thank you 𝙰𝚜𝚙𝚎𝚗 𝙶𝚛𝚊𝚌𝚎 | CO Hairstylist for letting me do some really fun nails with you!
Learning and growing that is what it is all about.
Also thank you for the hair tinsel! She is amazing at hair and has 2 adorable retrievers. What a treat!

Introducing me 🎉💙
It’s about time you see the face behind the nails!
Hi! I’m Catherin Young, the nail tech behind The Hue Hippie 💅🏼 Here’s a little bit about me:
💙 My favorite color is blue.
☕️ My current drink obsession is the sugar-free Smash Melon from The Human Bean — but I also LOVE a good light roast black coffee.
🐶 My dog’s name is Latte (yes, the coffee obsession runs deep 😂).
📖 On my days off, you can probably find me hanging out in a coffee shop simply for the vibes.
🏕️ I love traveling in my car, tent camping whenever I get the chance, and exploring new places.
🥾 Hiking is one of my favorite ways to spend my free time.
🎓 Next year, I plan to attend CMU and explore what I want to pursue for my bachelor’s degree!
Moving to Grand Junction and starting over has been such an adventure, and I’m so thankful I get to call this beautiful city home. 💙
And of course… I LOVE doing nails. After 8 years in the industry, I’m still just as excited about creating beautiful nails, helping people grow their natural nails, and getting to know the person sitting across from me.
So if you’ve been looking for a nail tech in Grand Junction, hi! 👋🏼 I’d absolutely love to be your next one. 💅🏼✨
One month in. 🤍
If I could describe my first month building a business from zero in a brand-new city and state, I’d use one word: humbled.
This is hard.
A lot of it is sitting. Waiting. Hoping. Praying. Wondering when the next booking will come in and reminding myself why I started in the first place.
But I love what I do. I’m passionate about what I’m building. And instead of letting this first month discourage me, I’m going to let it push me forward with even more enthusiasm.
To every friend who has encouraged me, shared my work, booked with me, cheered me on, or simply reminded me to keep going—thank you. 🤍
I’m not giving up.
I believe in what I’m building, even while it’s small. I believe the waiting will be worth it. And I believe there will come a day when I look back at these quiet first months and realize they were building me just as much as I was building my business.
And if believing in something before you can see the results makes me a little crazy…
Well, I think some of the best business owners probably started out a little crazy too. 😉
Here’s to month two. 🌿

What is The Hue Hippie doing outside of nails, you ask? 💅
Well… apparently volunteering for random events she finds on flyers in coffee shops. You know, like any regular person. Hello! 😂
In all seriousness, I recently stumbled across Hilltop Community Resources here in the Grand Valley, and I’m so glad I did.
Hilltop is an incredible nonprofit that connects people in our community with resources like food, water, showers, housing support, mental health resources, and so much more.
Since moving out West, one of the hardest things for me has been seeing so many people experiencing homelessness and mental health crises and feeling like I didn’t have an answer when I wanted to help.
Now I have somewhere to point people. ❤️
The resources are here. The people doing the work are here. Now we just need to help make sure the people who need them know where to find them.
Tonight, Hilltop held their gala, and yours truly was in charge of the VIP tables! ✨ So if you saw your nail girl running around tonight… no you didn’t. 😂
Very grateful to spend an evening serving the community I’m learning to call home. Also got to see the Reverent Rhythms dance their hearts out to a fav song!!
