How to Find the Perfect Inspo Pic for Your Hairstylist 💇‍♀️✨

Before your appointment, think about your actual hair goals and choose inspo pics that match the cut and color you’re wanting. I can’t tell you how often someone brings in photos of bright money pieces… and then also wants short curtain bangs.
Remember: cut + color work together. If we cut bangs, those bright face-framing pieces won’t look the same. Still cute but just different!

✨ Tips for choosing the right inspo pics:

1️⃣ Bring a photo of the FRONT.
The back is helpful, but what you see in the mirror matters most.

2️⃣ Keep it simple — no 30-photo photo dump.
Bring up to 3 inspo pics and maybe 1 “absolutely not” pic so we’re on the same page.

3️⃣ Match your inspo to your natural base.
If you have dark black hair, avoid bringing photos of naturally dirty blondes. Think about grow-out and the maintenance you’re comfortable with.

4️⃣ Consider your hair history.
Everyone has a different “hair canvas.” If you have layers of box dye, your hair won’t lift the same as someone who’s virgin or previously lightened hair. Think of dye like wallpaper layers — it takes time to safely remove.

5️⃣ Pay attention to placement, not just brightness.
Your hair may not lift to platinum in one session, but you can get the same placement and pattern of lightness.

Bringing the right inspo helps us create hair you’ll love — and keeps expectations, goals, and results aligned 🤍✨

Seasonal depression hits so many of us this time of year. I live for summer and those warm late nights, so when fall rolls in, the shift can feel heavy. It’s easy to slip into a funk, but remember to take care of you, even in the small ways. 🌗✨

For me, that looks like getting a fresh gloss on my hair and staying on top of my pedicures. When I feel put together on the outside, it genuinely helps me feel better on the inside. 🫶🏽

So here’s your reminder: fake it till you make it, give yourself grace, and know that you’re doing amazing just by showing up. 🤍🍂

💜 I have a love–hate relationship with purple shampoo! 💜

My clients know — NO purple shampoo for the first 2 weeks after getting their color done!

Let’s clear something up:
✨ Purple shampoo doesn’t lighten your hair.
✨ It neutralizes yellow tones.
So if you love that bright, fresh blonde, purple shampoo might not be your best friend.

I’ve noticed it can be very cleansing… and very DRYING 😩. That’s why I recommend using it only once or twice a month — max!

If it were up to me, I’d suggest trying a purple hair mask instead. You’ll get the tone and the moisture your hair needs. 💧💜

Remember: not all purple shampoos are created equal! A harsh one can leave your blonde dull, dark, or muddy after repeated use.

👉 Use with caution, blondies!

✨ Like seasons change, sometimes we need to change with them. 🍂

This client has been blonde for years, but after becoming a mom she decided to take a break from the upkeep and embraced going darker. I love the outcome and shine dark provides.

Here’s the thing when going dark after being blonde 👉 you’re only covering the blonde, not rebuilding it with protein. That means if you ever want to go back lighter, it won’t be a simple bleach session. It often takes a big haircut + lots of new growth before lifting blonde again becomes safe. Bleaching over colored blonde = more damage + less predictable lift.

⚡️ Going dark is a beautiful choice, but it’s a commitment.
If you’re on the fence, you have options before taking the plunge:
✨ Add lowlights with a demi (which fade more naturally).
✨ Tone your blonde darker for a softer seasonal shift.

💌 Always feel free to text me if you’re considering a fall change or want guidance on easier maintenance options!
