Loofah Love by Amber

I am starting to enter the "empty nest" season in life. Although I still have one in high school, he's self sufficient and doesn't need his momma very much these days. With this new found time I have, I've decided to get to know myself again and find new things that bring me joy and happiness. Loofahs are my new found hobby and they bring me joy. I hope to one day make it my full time job so I can quit my 9 to 5 and become my own boss. All while loving what I do! How did I come to know about the loofah you may ask? Well, let me explain. We share a fence with the neighbors directly behind my house. They have an amazing garden. A few years back, a vine started growing through the fence on our side. It grew fast and aggressive. Then, what looked like a zucchini gourd began to grow. These things can grow to be upwards of 20" long so I was pretty impressed about the size of what was growing. One day, while my best friends were visiting, we got curious enough to cut the gourd off the vine and cut into it to see if we could figure out what kind of vegetable it was. After a bit of research, we learned that it was a loofah. We had no idea that loofahs came from a seed! That's when I decided I was going to learn how to grow and make loofah soaps. It really is a great and natural product and everyone seems to love them. So why not try and start my own small business? Now here I am, actually following a dream that I have for myself because I want to. That right there, brings me joy. Making a great product that I know everyone will love…that brings me joy!
