Extremely Disappointed – No Flexibility During Travel Safety Concerns

Maldives Liveaboard Dive Trip | March 8–16, 2026

I am extremely disappointed with how Liveaboard.com handled my situation.

I had a confirmed booking aboard Carpe Vita for March 8–16, 2026. Unfortunately, my Emirates flight was cancelled, and due to escalating tensions and instability in parts of the Middle East, I did not feel secure traveling. Additionally, the U.S. Department of State issued a Level 2 advisory (“Exercise Increased Caution”), and there were travel warnings related to the UAE.

Given these circumstances — which were completely outside of my control — I promptly contacted Liveaboard.com by phone and in writing to request either:
• A rescheduled trip date, or
• A credit toward a future booking

Instead, I was told that because the cruise itself was still operating as scheduled, my booking fell within the 100% cancellation penalty period, and no rescheduling option would be offered. I was advised to file a travel insurance claim.

While I understand policies exist, what is most disappointing is the complete lack of flexibility or goodwill under extraordinary circumstances involving airline cancellations and legitimate safety concerns.

I even asked if I could transfer my spot to someone I know, and was told they were “looking into it,” but no immediate solution was provided.

This response feels rigid and unsympathetic to real-world travel disruptions. When customers are dealing with cancelled flights, geopolitical instability, and official travel advisories, some level of accommodation should be considered.

I was not asking for a refund outside of policy — I was simply requesting a credit or the opportunity to reschedule.

Based on this experience, I would strongly encourage future travelers to carefully review cancellation terms and consider whether this is a company that will support you if unforeseen events arise.

Very disappointing.
