We are in the end game now.

Kelly is scheduled to be induced on the 19th. I’m not planning on taking a ton of time off, but once the baby comes, I’ll have a clearer picture of what my schedule will look like.

If you’ve been meaning to get in, now is the time. I have a few openings this week and next week, so book now before things get a little unpredictable around here.

Massage is for everyone.
I want everyone who walks through the door at Bespin Massage to feel welcome, respected, and safe.
Every person who gets on my table is different. Different bodies, different backgrounds, different goals, different comfort levels, and different reasons for being there.
I'll always do my best to accommodate your individual needs and make your session a positive experience. If there's something that would make you more comfortable, I want you to feel comfortable telling me.
I truly and deeply care about every person who gets on my table. You're not just another appointment on my schedule.
Bespin Massage is a place where you can feel safe, heard, and taken care of.

Why does the same spot keep getting tight?
If you keep getting tension in the same area, simply working on that spot over and over may not be the whole answer.
Your muscles are influenced by how you move, your posture, your work, your workouts, stress, and how other areas of your body are functioning.
That's why I don't just focus on the spot that hurts. I want to look at what's happening around it and figure out what your body is asking for.
Massage can help reduce tension and improve mobility, but understanding what may be contributing to that tension is an important part of the process too.
Your body is connected. Sometimes the area that hurts isn't the whole story.

Is deeper always better when it comes to massage?

Not necessarily.

Deep tissue massage doesn't mean using as much pressure as possible. The goal is to work with the tissues and address areas of tension while still allowing your body to respond to the treatment.

Too much pressure can cause unnecessary soreness and make it harder for the muscles to relax.

That's why I adjust pressure throughout a session based on what I'm feeling in the tissue and, most importantly, how you're responding.

A good therapeutic massage isn't about how much pressure you can tolerate. It's about getting the results your body needs.

Your massage shouldn't be exactly the same every time.

Your body changes.

Maybe you've had a stressful week. Maybe you've been working more, spent extra time at the gym, slept differently, or have a completely different area bothering you than the last time you came in.

That's why I don't follow the exact same routine with every client or every session.

I want to know what's going on with you that day so we can focus our time where you actually need it.

There's no one-size-fits-all massage. Your session should be about your body, your goals, and what you need that day.

Why does a massage therapist ask about your daily activities?

Because what you do every day can have a big impact on how your body feels.

Your job, workouts, hobbies, how much time you spend sitting, and even how you sleep can all contribute to muscle tension and changes in how you move.

That's why I don't want to just know where it hurts. I want to understand what your body is being asked to do.

The more I know about your daily routine, the better I can tailor your massage to what you actually need.

Massage isn't one-size-fits-all, and your session shouldn't be either.

We are officially one month away from meeting the newest addition to our family.

The due date is September 18th, and I'm still accepting appointments as usual. I just want to give everyone a heads-up that as we get closer to that date, there is a possibility that appointments may need to be rescheduled depending on when the baby decides to arrive.

I appreciate everyone's understanding and patience as we get ready for this next chapter.

If you know you want to get a massage around that time, I recommend booking ahead when possible. I'll do my best to give everyone as much notice as I can if anything needs to change.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Why does your massage therapist ask you to breathe?

It's not just because I like reminding people to relax.

When you're stressed or uncomfortable, it's easy to hold your breath or tense your muscles without realizing it. Slow, steady breathing can help your body shift out of that tense state and make it easier to relax during your massage.

It can also help you communicate with me. If something feels too intense, taking a breath and letting me know gives me a chance to adjust the pressure.

A good massage isn't about seeing how much pressure you can tolerate. It's about working with your body.

Why can your muscles feel tight even when you haven't worked out?

Muscle tension isn't only caused by exercise.

Stress, sitting for long periods, repetitive movements, poor posture, physical work, and even spending a lot of time in the same position can all contribute to muscle tension.

Sometimes your muscles are working harder than you realize just to keep you in the same position for hours at a time.

That's one reason massage therapy can be helpful even if you're not an athlete. Your everyday activities can put plenty of stress on your body.

Pay attention to those little aches and areas of tightness. They can be your body's way of telling you it needs some attention.
